Neuropathic pain vs ............

How can you tell if pain is neuropathic? Do certain terminal patients experience neuropathic pain more often that others? Just curious. Would appreciate any information I can.

Here is an online CME from the American Medical Association. Click on introduction on the left frame to begin at the beginning and then click your way down through management.

This page contains the American Pain Society's definition for neuropathic pain...subsequent pages in the CME activity deal with management. There is also a nice table which summarizes the characteristics:
