Yes it is very important to educate a newly diagnosed ca pt. For the simple reason is that that person and family has to digest the information slowly for the stages of grief to start effectively. They will need many more times of hearing about their diagnoses, the stages ect...they will be angry, sad, barganing for their life, then hopefully accepting if caught early enough. With all the prepration at the end the family will feel like they were well prepared and could focus on the last few days..weeks..and enjoy their loved one.
