Care Center Staffing?

For those of you who work in hospice carecenters, would you share how they are staffed? The carecenter I work in staffs 1 RN, 1 LPN & 1 CNA for 10-11 patients. If census goes up to 12-13 we get 1 more cna for 8 hrs (we work 12 hr shifts). If we go to 14-15 the 2nd cna can stay the whole shift. This gives us a staff/pt ratio of roughtly 1:3.6 or 1:3.7. There are many times when pt acuity is so high that we feel we can barely provide adequate care. Administration, on the other hand, feels we could do with fewer staff. I would really like to see what others do for comparison. And maybe it will make me feel better :-)

cna- 1:8
rn - no more than 1:4. often 1:2, 1:3.
assignments done day before and according to acuity.
if pts "stabilize", get another pt.
if one decompensates, one taken away.
very reasonable.
but i know it's not like that in other places.

You are understaffed! I work in a smaller unit, but never have had more than 4 patients. I agree with Earle.
