What type of exercise do you do??

Im just curious as to what kind of exercise you all do. I have been doing pilates for about 8 months. So I decided I wanted to try something different. Welllllllllll I started with a DVD for beginners of cardio kickboxing.

Let me tell you........... it is so much FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also found a site for Itrain, with some downloadable mp3 files for IBallet. It uses ballet movements and kickboxing moves to tone and strengthen the lower body.

Also, like many of you, I have been under a TON of stress lately, things that I wont go into here, but lets just say more than work issues........... its nice to "kick" it away!!!!!!!!!

So what do you all do?????????

I do weight training at least 2-3 times a week, cardio machines sometimes or Step aerobics about 3-4 times a week, or hiking with my dog. I also throw in a Pilates or yoga class in there for flexiblity and core work. I try to eat healthy, with lots of veggies and unprocessed foods, drink lots of water, get lots of sleep (I work noc shift, too), and am starting to get monthly massages (they are heaven!)

I work on a cardiac unit, and I practice what I preach, ya know?

Im trying to get to drinking nothing but water, however, I have to have my Diet Mtn Dew thrown in there!!! I have gotten better though, nevermind the fact that the water that I drink is strawberry flavored....... hehehehe

I am currently doing a walking program combined with dance dvds.

The dance dvds are Zumba (latin dance workout) www.zumba.com

Kukuwa (latin/afro/caribbean) www.lacd.net

Nia www.nianow.com
You would love nia-has lots of martial arts moves and kicks.......

I really try to be consistant, but now with the humid weather its
more challenging.

Taking our Old English Sheepdog ( 100 lbs) for a walk qualifies as a workout!

I workout 5-6 days a week. I'm at the gym for an hour or an hour and a half each day.

I do weights 2-3 times per week, full body which usually takes me 30-40mins. I do cardio for an hour each day either in the treadmill (uphill and intervals) or the ArcTrainer.

Does anyone else on here use a fitness ball or just undertake regular exercises without weights, like pull-ups, push-ups, crunch's etc.?

As a student I just couldn't bring myself to spend the kind of money the gym's wanted so I just do basic stretching every morning and every evening before going to bed. 3-4 days a week I do about 1 hours worth of work on the fitness ball. I also walk to school (45 mins. with books each way) every day I have class and run on days I don't walk to school.

That combined with a pretty well balanced diet (I do enjoy my ice cream on these hot summer nights) seems to work really well for me. The stretching also helps to relieve any stress that has built up while sleeping or during the day so I'm usually pretty loose and relaxed.

Ridin a bicycle at moderate to high intensity burns 1000 calories an HOUR!!!!!!
and its FUN! You got it - I burn 1000 so I can eat an extra 500!

We have a newly built theater room in our basement with an excellent sound system. I have always ridden a stationary bike for exercise as I have a bad knee and ankle which preclude running or aerobics. Now I play a concert DVD of my favorite artists (Rod Stewart, Police, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, etc.) and get sweaty right along with the musicians. What fun! Hubby complains about my bike being right in the middle of the room though .

When I'm not in school (summer and breaks) I workout 5 days/week either running or mtn biking. I also do crunches/small ab workout a couple times a week.

During the school year when time is tight, I hop on the ellipse machine. It's nothing compared to the workout I get outdoors, but I figure it's better than nothing.

My goal this coming semester is to get out one morning a week for a ride and fill in twice a week with the ellipse (I don't have time to do the 5 day a week thing during the school year). I want to avoid the feeling of playing "catch up" the first couple of weeks of summer by remaining active outdoors this year if I can.
