Talking Weight Watchers Online

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice about using the online version of Weight Watchers. I've been looking around the site and cannot decide if I should spend the $$ to join or just go it alone. I really don't want to go to meetings, and honestly I don't really have time. My classes start again next week, so I'm trying to get my mind wrapped around this now. Thanks!!!

Re: Weight Watchers Online

Well this is not too old so I will reply.

Warning: This is just my opinion but it is backed up by real life results. I also say fat. I was fat. I am not as fat now. I won't call it overweight or anything else because I was fat. If it offends anyone, that is not my intent. The first step to solving a problem is admitting it. I am fat!!! But not as fat as I used to be!!!!!

--- Ok here we go...

It depends what kind of person you are. If you are a loner (somewhat or extreme) go it alone. People will tend to hold you up and actually can increase the amount of temptation around you. They can also disappoint you by not holding up their end of the bargain.

If you need people, which I am sensing may not be an issue, then go ahead and join.

Now as far as Weight Watchers goes I'll tell you I think it is a total waste of money. Some of the food I have seen people eating after WW recommending it is not really all that great for you. That whole portion control thing is bunk and really, do you have to spend a million dollars on THEIR snacks??? And what determines a point???

It would be easier customizing your own plan than using the WW starvation plan. Just get someone you trust, that isn't a slacker, to do weekly weigh ins for you or better yet measure body fat every week.

Losing weight doesn't take loads of money. It doesn't take portion control. It usually fails when you try to address more than one need at a time (most people get larger for some reason).

It is easier to change what you eat than to change your eating habits. I haven't changed my habits whatsoever. I eat like a pig... when I am depressed, when I am bored, etc.

I did change my what I ate though. No meat, no saturated anything, higher amounts of unsaturated fat (no that isn't a typo), insane amounts of veggies and fruits and only water, with crystal light packets, and the shakes you can get at health bars or gyms (real fruit shakes with protein added). When I eat out it is Middle Eastern, Greek or real Asian food. Nothing processed. Nothing Fried. Nothing that rots in your stomach instead of digesting. Nothing with more than 6 or so real ingredients in it like soy products. Flat, unleavened whole grain breads. Protein shake in the morning and evening. Absolutely no diet pills, products or programs. Simple as that.

January 1 - June 21: 80 lbs. (298 - 218) - Cholesterol down to 176 from 265. Minimal exercise. Though it has been increasing. I lost my first 25ish pounds in about 4 weeks.

Exercise would make it go faster, but hey, I got fat because I was lazy. I am working on the fat. The lazy can wait.

People will tell you do this or try that. These are people that a) are fat and never lose weight b) have never been fat and think 5 extra pounds qualifies c) watch too much tv d) think a magic pill will make fat melt..

The longer you take to lose weight, the more money they make. Should tell you something right there.
