Has anyone else encountered similar situations? I am really bothered by this.
In the UK never had a problem but the subway I now go to here in Canada I think are getting used to me coming in and asking because now they just do it without comment although at first I was made to feel uncomfortable. One thing I can say for them is that they do get a clean knife for me when cutting it

That's terrible. When I order a veggie sub at Subway they ask "are you a vegetarian" and when I say yes, they change their gloves and change knives without me having to ask. I think this is there policy. Your friend should make a complaint to their corporate headquarters.

I have had that sort of problem buying pizza. They use the same knife to cut each pizza, so they cut my kids ham and pineapple and then cut my vege pizza.
I could see bits of meat on the knife....made me feel sick!!
Not going there again!

So what's up guys. Wondering what you are cooking today and tomorrow? In the USA it's a holiday. Of course us nurses never have a real holiday.

I'm probably just making beans and rice. For lunch I made a good sun-dried tomato hummous from a recipe from "The Garden of Vegan".

So what's for supper???

Today the guys are having steak so I splurged and bought myself some roasted veggies and tofu from an upscale deli here in town. It's really ridiculous because it was $9.99 a pound... for veggies and tofu???... but I had some when they were offering samples and it is crazy good. We're having watermelon for dessert... it looks really good, so I hope it is. I hate when watermelon is all dry and mushy.

I will probably have a Boca burger tomorrow.

we are (weather permitting) going to the lake tomorrow, and i am planning on making some wraps. i usually just warm some tortillas, squish a ripe avocado on them, plop on some salsa, squirt of lime juice and roll them up. they are quick, easy and super healthy.

have you tried to boca meatless italian sausage?? not all grocery stores have them, but it is like $4 for a box of 4 and they are awesome. they are not waxy and chewy like normal tofu hot dog products. you can put them in a hot dog bun, cut up in a salad, or use in pasta sauce. i have just about given up boca burgers since i found these. moringstar farms also makes veggie corn dogs that you can pop in the microwave, i am a big fan of these too!

I forgot I had some baby bok choy that I really needed to cook, so I wound up making a stir fry with baby bok choy, tofu and shitake mushrooms. There's enough left over for my lunch tomorrow.

You're still talking British........but I think I have heard of "mincemeat pie".........Is "tea" what we call lunch or maybe dinner. But you might have to define what is meant by "pie".

It is irritating how expensive some of those ready-made things are aren't they? Especially at health food stores. During these inflationary times it can only get worse. I was at the health food store and noticed they had organic red peppers for sale at $6.99 per pound and a bag of organic oranges was $15.00. I thought to myself "who is buying this stuff? Sometimes I splurge. The above mushrooms were $11.99/pound. I made sure I only bought about an ounce though.

Sounds nice, both the food and the wraps.

No, I haven't tried those. I'm sure I can find a store somewhere around here that has them. It will be great, too, because dh and ds are big bratwurst fans and this way I'll be able to have an equivalent. Thanks for the tip.
