Re: nursing + exercise?

I am definitely one of those people who has trouble fitting exercise into my day...but as much as I try to believe that walking a bit here and there is enough, I know better

My latest attempt at exercising regularly is a program called PUSH - you get a DVD each month with two strength training sessions with a personal trainer and one cardio session of your choice. It's short enough to fit into my day and I like the variety of it...so far, so good!

Anyone else used this? I'm coming up on choices for my next cardio and want to pick something good!

Re: nursing + exercise?

I go to the gym. When not pregnant I usually do weight training every other day, about 30 min of cardio then hit the pool, hot tub, and sometimes sauna. I also do a Yoga Booty Ballet video when I can't get to the gym. Since I'm pregnant, I usually do walking on the treadmill or exercise bike 20-30 min, then swimming, or just swimming. Don't want to overdo it since I'm working full time as well. Plus the swimming feels so good, makes you feel weightless when you're anything but. LOL. I think regular exercise makes me feel better overall, have more energy and stamina, and less aches and pains after work. Tonya

Re: nursing + exercise?

I can definitely see how swimming feels especially good when you are pregnant...and it is definitely the time of year for it! I have to admit that while I love walking and playing around outside, there's something nice about hiding out in my air conditioned place when really getting into exercising. And part of what I like with PUSH is the idea of having a personal trainer who goes through it with me One of the cardio ideas has yoga in it...maybe I'll go with that. I also want to try a dance one at some point!

So I have to ask because I've seen it elsewhere too...what is yoga booty ballet exactly?

Re: nursing + exercise?

Yoga Booty Ballet is a set of exercise videos that incorporate dance, yoga, and firming exercises for your hips, thighs, and buns. you can order it off of the informercials, or beachbody.com. It's a lot of fun, especially if you like yoga and dance, and you can really feel it, but it's do-able. I've had to cut back on a lot of it since I'm pregnant now since some of the exercises aren't compatible with pregnancy, but can't wait to get back to it. It's a little expensive, but worth it because I use it a lot. I lost 25 pounds before getting pregnant with my baby by using it and eating better. Tonya

Re: nursing + exercise?

That Yoga Booty Ballet does sound pretty fun - I love the new trend of getting really creative with exercise options, instead of just settling for something that's boring or unoriginal.

I signed up for the Yoga cardio in my PUSH progam for my next disc, which should be very fun (and almost like yoga booty ballet, maybe!) I like that I can change it up from disc to disc if I want so if the yoga cardio is not for me, or I don't feel like it's challenging enough, I can switch it later - instead of risking getting something that might not be the kind of activity for me (I am so picky a lot of the time). So, I'll let you know what it is when I get it, and we can compare "dance yoga" notes
