We used to call his root beer "soda beer" but now he pretends it is just beer. I don't buy it very often.

Well, I did an hour on the elliptical machine . . 4.4 miles . . . 530 calories. That is about one candy bar.

Did you ever notice how tuna egg salad tastes better the second day? Actually, most things taste better the second day. Just finished off my bowl of tuna egg salad while letting the temporary hair dye work on my gray roots . . .

BBF, I've had a bad couple of days too. I agree you have to look at the long haul, rather than two days.

Blue, I didn't think Pharm was that bad, but those drug presentations are irritating.

Still doing well w/ my food, no wt loss this wk but it's period time again, sigh... Went for a pretty long walk on the beach w/ a friend, got winded but it was worth it! That beach is not all that far from me, 20 min at most? Not good during the summer due to tourists, but thru April or so it will be fine! it is so beautiful even in the winter.

Also bought Billy Blanks' tae bo tapes (3) at work = 1/2 price so a buck apiece. I figured that way I can do aerobics w/o annoying the neighbors downstairs w/jumping and all that. We'll see ...

Well, I said for better or worse I will post my weight....

Last week: 224 lbs.
This week: 224 lbs.

I am not sure what happened. I think I didn't eat enough. I know I didn't over eat and I worked out harder this week than the previous weeks. I jogged on the treadmill for 2 hours 2 days, 1 1/2 hours 2 days, and 1 hour 1 day. My calorie intake was about 1000-1100/day. I am going to try to increase my intake, maybe add a healthy snack or two. I hope everyone else out there is having much success!!! Due to this set back, next week my goal is to drop 4 lbs.

That's probably part of my prob too Jay, it's true that if you don't eat enough, your body may think it is starving (come to think of it, I may think I'm starving! ha ha!)

I wasn't planning on it. I just wasn't that hungry. I've never been a "sweet tooth" kinda guy. I much rather have salty foods. My favorite snack is sunflower seeds in the shell!!

I AM a sugar freak. But as long as I abstain I am pretty ok.

I just find it hard to eat when I get up. I do eat a good bkfst but it's about 2 hrs after I get up and then I go to work. Then don't eat again til suppertime, and probably overdo it then. Not good.

I sometimes feel hungry at work but usually I just want to get everything done before I relax - and we all know that "everything done" never happens!

Re: Healthier Living Thread Part V

Jay, I was going to say what Steph did, that it is probably muscle weight. Also, I agree with you that your caloric intake is too low. Men of your weight shouldn't be so restrictive without medical supervision, and as you have found it doesn't necessarily equate with weight loss. Rev up your metabolism by adding healthy snacks and eating five times a day. Lastly don't beat yourself up for not losing weight this week by upping your weight loss goals for the next week because you might be setting yourself up for failure. Realistic healthy weight loss goals of 1-2 lbs a week is fine. (It's funny I was watching Celebrity Fit Club and they say this in one breath and in the next say "your weight loss goal is 5 lbs".) End of lecture.

I'm off to the gym here in a few. As I say I was lazy towards the end of the week. I'm having a bit of trouble with being consistent on a daily basis and I seem to sabbatoge towards the end of the week, negating and gains (or actually losses) I've made. I have to take a look at that. Working 5 days in a row might be harder than I think.

Re: Healthier Living Thread Part V

I agree w/Steph & Tweety- it's probably muscle gain.

I fond that if I eat a couple healthy snacks during the day, I'm not starving by meal time, which leads to overeating (for me at least).

I was good yesterday. It was my oldest dtr's 16th B-day, we had a party, and I didn't eat any of the bad stuff we had out for her guests.

I actually ended up losing a pound for the week, after all- yay! Pretty good, considering I'm bloated .

Have a great weekend y'all!
