Re: Healthier Living Support Thread: PART TWO!

I've been eating a lot lately ...... well not A LOT, but more than I should be. I've just been in this depressed mood ..... all I want to do it sleep and eat. Gonna go shopping with my mom later, maybe that'll help.

So needless to say, I haven't started on my healthier living plan like I had wanted to. *SIGH*

You guys all seem to be doing so well, I hope I can get there.

Keep your chin up Rain. This winter weather does the same thing to me. It is really hard to keep on track and I am bouncing back and forth between being good and not being good. I am trying to maintain through all the cold, gloomy days and hopefully spring will bounce me back into action. I always do better in the spring/summer anyway. Good luck - one day at a time.

Be kind with yourself Rain, it's hard to make it a habit and easy to slip into old ways. It's not the fact that we slip, it's the response to the slip.

I've slipped into vacation, eat what I want mode. But still having some healthy dishes now and then, and still vegetarian. I think beginning Monday, it's back to the old healthy ways. I've gained two pounds and I refuse to have to diet again! LOL

Re: Healthier Living Support Thread: PART TWO!

Thanks Sarah - We don't really have "winter" around here lol ..... so I don't think it's that really. Just a lot of other stuff going on and it's just so hard to get motivated. Thanks for the well wishes.

Thanks Tweety. It sounds like you're doing well, even on vacation. How long have you been vegetarian? Have you noticed a big difference in how you feel?

Re: Healthier Living Support Thread: PART TWO!

Rain, I notice a difference when I put together a bunch of days/weeks of healthy eating and exercise regardless of whether I'm eating meat.

I was a vegetarian for 12 years, quit for a couple of years and January became a vegetarian again.

There were times as a vegetarian I ate a lot of junk food, refined carbs, chips etc. and felt terrible. There were times as a meat eater, eating lots of fruits and veggies, lean meats, whole grains etc. that I felt great.

When I switched to eating meat two years ago my cholesterol went from 106 to 152 and I gained a lot of weight. So when I eat healthy vegetarian I feel much much better.

I got up to late to make it to yoga, and am concentrating on school work today for the most part. I need to kick in the but to make sure I go to the gym tomorrow so someone be sure to kick me, o.k.?

Re: Healthier Living Support Thread: PART TWO!

I went to the gym and did a half-assed workout, with 25 minutes of aerobics, but it was better than nothing.

Re: Healthier Living Support Thread: PART TWO!

Definitely Tweety - anything is better than nothing! I decided I need to do something, even if it is not very much because I just don't exercise. So yesterday I decided to teach my 3 1/2 yr. old how to do jumping jacks. It was a blast and I got in some exercise as well. He was so cute and ended up pretty well coordinated by the time we were done. We also did toe touches and running in place. Somehow exercise is much more fun with the incorporation of a little kid who has the giggles.

Hi sddlnscp! What the heck kind of name is that LOL!

Ok, so, since it worked:

I had a rough January as I think I told you, trouble with my mental health issues, but I seem to have found a good balance with medication and self care (YAY~)

Will be hopefully starting a part-time job in retail and will be going back to school to be an activities director. How many times have I left nursing and then ended up back in it, and wound up burnt out and getting dangerously close to the edge emotionally? Had enough. This way I can still use a lot of my nursing skills yet not have someone's physical health in the balance.

I am doing better with food, exercise, etc., and so so happy to be "in the middle" and average today (lol). Been sober 20 years but because I am either wayyy down or wayyy up, it has not always been "happy joyous and free!"

Also joined a new church which is awesome (not the Phred Phelps variety I promise you!) and so I feel pretty well rounded. Well, that too, since the weight is slow to come off, ha ha!
