Jess, was that "mean" a Freudian slip? I have huge resentments about this whole fitness/healthy eating thing, doesn't matter to ME what I call it I still hate it! but I did read most of the posts on this thread (well, part I anyway) and HAVE to be assimilating SOMEthing!

Good luck Jess and to all!

Darn hormones!

I did order the tortilla soup at dinner last night . . .rich chicken broth and chunks of chicken with jack cheese and avocado . . .I'm sure it was not low cal but better than the shrimp quesadillas, refried beads, rice, sour cream, etc., that my daughter ate. I did have chips and salsa but tomatoes are good for ya, right!? And I drank water, not soda, not beer, not a margarita.

What amazes me is I struggle with 10 pounds of weight loss and some folks have accomplished so much more than that. Makes ya feel like such a loser sometimes.

Up off this computer old woman and get thee to the treadmill, now!

You are doing fine Steph. You've been hittin that treadmill steadily now. Just keep pounding the water. Beer is my downfall. I love beer! After being pregnant then bf for a year I have been indulging way too much.

Sorry, I meant meal instead of mean.

Hope I didn't say something to offend you?

Pray everything is okay with you.

Feeling better today. Maybe it was because I was coming down with a tiny little cold that has passed.

Re: Healthier Living Support Thread: PART TWO!

Thanks Jess I think I'm just having some "it's time for a vacation blues".

Steph. I know what you mean. I keep struggling with the same little five pounds and can't seem to shake them. Maybe it's not meant to be at this point in my life.

Re: Healthier Living Support Thread: PART TWO!

Glad you are better today, Tweets.

I am reading a book called "3 Rules" or something like that. Written by a cardiologist here in Olympia, WA. And it's simple enough----and makes sense. I am going to have to adopt some changes.

First I AM NOT A BREAKFAST PERSON. I hate eating in the morning. But we all know the rule about starting the day right---revving up the metabolism w/breakfast....and it needs to include a lean protein, which makes it even harder for me.....

The other rule is we need to have lean protein at EVERY meal, not just lunch or dinner.......that is a change for me too...but I see how it can help w/the glycemic problems I have....

The the last is the one you have heard of "no white at night", meaning no white foods after 5---no potatoes of any sort, no rice, no breads (not even wheat) and the like. And no sugar---meaning NO dessert after dinner!!!!

That will be hard too, cause I love corn and potatoes at dinner. But this dr pointed out correctly, how they fatten up cattle is NOT with fatty foods, but GRAINS...and similiarly, humans (who are also mammals) are getting fat, not on fatty foods, but low fat ones.....e.g. grains, which I LOVE.

I have to make these changes, however, or get as big as a house. So I will try to do this slowly, and see how it goes.

Deb, that sounds like an awsome book, and one I'd be interested in reading. Thanks
