Healthier Living Support - Part III

Greetings. Deb is going to put a sticky on this thread and eventually delete the other.

This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.

It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!

Zoe, it's good to hear from you. You sound great.

It's a workday today. Hopefully I can resist the stress eating which I've been doing lately and stick to my healthy lunch I packed.

Hey there, good job Tweety.

I am still around just out of the groove lately....moving is a real shakeup.

Anyhow, still going to Curves, moved my membership and all....still liking that. And still trying to keep motivated and walk evenings instead of turn on the TV-----very important.

It's a day to day struggle for me but somehow easier when the sun shines and its' nice out.

Hope all are doing well----post here and tell us how it's going!

Quit smoking 2.5 weeks ago.

Started taking the BP meds I knew I needed to be on 2 weeks ago.

Went to the gym and swam 5 laps - 3 times this week.

How poorly I eat. . . . Well, let's work on the other things first.

~faith,
Timothy.

Hello everybody! Goodness - skip a day and get completely lost! Looks like we have some newcomers - Welcome!!! Glad to see you all and please post frequently - this thread is about the only thing that really has worked to keep me motivated. I used to be a yo-yo dieter, but I have done really good since the creation of this thread and, though I seem to be at a plateau with my weight loss, at least I am not gaining it back, which I usually do.

Hi Tweety!

Just reposting what I said on the other thread because I am just SO important and enjoy hearing from the rest of the gang!

My "part deux" post edited for brevity's sake LOL - it is nice to see you as always Tweety! {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Tweets}}}}}}}}}

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just saying hi! Moods are staying pretty steady, some anxiety and depression but DEFINITELY better, thank God! I did start doing some trial work periods this week in SPITE of that! (I have been out on disability for bipolar and anxiety disorder). Starting REAL slow and working my way up.

Unfortunately, being on depakote shuts off the signal you should receive when you have had enough food, and also, financially, I haven't been able to get the quality of food that would help me with weight loss. I've gained 12 lb since January. With beginning work, the $ will be better AND I will be more active.

t was BEAUTIFUL! here in Maine last week, I was more active and I hope to continue! Yeah right, little fitness angel, that's me! ROFL!

Well anyway, I have been reading you guys' posts and wanted to check in! xoxox

You have GOT to give yourself more credit for all you ARE doing for yourself, young lady!

Sure is good to see you!

I am still curious what the smiley is supposed to mean!

Now isn't it funny, Timothy, I just chewed "Blue Eyes" out for not giving herself credit for all she IS doing for herself, and I failed to give myself credit for something else! Thank you for reminding me! I did forget to post my quit-smoking success, which I prefer to attribute to the grace of God for giving me courage and strength at LEAST! My quit date was January 9, 2006! whoo hoo! (and of course, my not smoking has NOTHING to do with the weight gain, yeah RIGHT!)

My stats:

114 days, 20 hours, 56 minutes and 55 seconds smoke free.
2297 cigarettes not smoked.
$575.00 and 17 days, 13 hours of your life saved.

By the way (BTW), if anyone is interested I recommend Quitnet.com. They have a quit meter to keep track of your time, as I posted above; forums (chat rooms), Q mail (to receive and give support and network, as with our PM's), "testimonies" (not religious but "how I quit" etc), and more. You can participate on the site itself at whatever level you wish, for free (of course there is a charge for more personalized help).

I also have a "yahoo groups" email loop (you can get posts via your email, or at the site itself as we do here) specifically for Christians quitting smoking (I find my spiritual practice essential to doing this stuff!)...

Anybody, let me know if you want more information! {{{{{{{{{{Timothy}}}}}}}}}}}

Smile Re: Healthier Living Support - Part III

Awesome thread! I'm focusing more on enjoying nature - really listening to the sound of a chirping bird, the rustle of the leaves of the trees, the sound of the ocean waves, and walking around the ranch 2-3 miles/day (of course that will change next month when I start classes again)! A dear friend and neighbor of mine recently started working from home as a resource specialist for a home-school virtual academy, and so we are often able to walk together, chat, share the ups and downs of our day/life, and laugh! Which IMO is a very important part of healthier living. In addition to that, taking the time to chop those vegetables and consume a healthier diet with more whole grains, omega-3s, and taking my daily multivitamins!

Re: Healthier Living Support - Part III

Congrats to you smoking 'kick-the-habit'ers - that is awesome!!!

Hi Ranch Girl! I love nature - nothing like hearing the birds chirp. We have a pair of mourning doves that live in our tree and I just adore that sound, it instantly takes away my day's stresses.

I've been really good about what I eat yesterday and today . . . so far, I'm trying to get back on track. I was doing awful there for a while with all the stress, but I think I'll be ok now.
