MissRN,

Do not be afraid of water. It's good to flush out the system and the body needs it for better functioning, especially brain function.

You probably have done better then you thought!

Re: Getting in shape/Losing weight in pre-nursing/NS support thread

Good day luvs, I have a questions. I read in Women's Fitness that you should weight yourself everyday because it gives you more motivation to get and keep the weight off (personally I was thinking a smaller butt was good enough but whatever) but I have also heard that you shouldn't do this because your weight fluctuates daily because of things like water retention and so on. Anyone know?

Also..has anyone tried green tea? Not the Lipton tea bags crap from Wal-mart but the actual green tea leaves that you have to seep. I swear by it. It helped my lose my first 50 lbs. There have been times when I've gone weeks without it and I feel and see the difference. I usually have a tall glass in the morning and I'm good for the rest of the day. Another bonus is that it really seems to 'clear you up'. On top of losing weight drinking the tea (coupled with more water) has brightened my skin, hooked up my hair, my nails, I just feel like I have more enery. I highy recommend it.

Re: Getting in shape/Losing weight in pre-nursing/NS support thread

Piglet, I heard the same thing about 28 days makes a habit. Just 26 more to go

I got my walk in last night, so that is 60 minutes so far this week. Unfortunately it is raining today Hopefully it will clear p this afternoon. Otherwise I will have to do a tape or tne treadmill. I hate the treadmill.

We went to Applebees last night for dinner, I had the Garlic Herb Chicken off of the WW menu. It was ok.(I won't say it was great) I was eyeing my little one's hambrger. LOL
My two youngest daughters told the waitress that it my Bday. She brought me a hot fudge shooter. I only ate one bite, and gave the rest away. So I guess that wasn't too bad. It felt good knowing I didn't overindlge.

Who weighs their self everyday?

I do. I have heard from some that say yo should and some that say you shouldn't. I was just curious as to what everyone else does.

Keep up the good work ladies!! We are going to have a great week!!

Fuuchan,

I didn't see your post before I sent mine. LOL!

I guess we were thinking about the same things.

For me, I like weighing myself everyday, because it keeps me on track. I try and do it every morning. and with the same clothes on. that way it will be more accurate. I don't have very big fluctuations. I know some people have problems with this.

As long as things continue at the same rate, I know I will have a loss Monday. But, I got to get by this weekend . Weekends are tough!

We go out to eat a lot when we are busy. That is one of the habits we are trying to change. Going out to eat is are biggest challenge.

Fuuchan, I have not tried green tea, other that than the walmart crap LOL!!!!
Do you buy yours at a health food store? or where do you get the good stuff?

Re: Getting in shape/Losing weight in pre-nursing/NS support thread

Depends on what kind of mood I'm in if I'll weigh every day or not. I kind of want to be 'surprised' when I do it once a week. Most of the time I go 2-3 times a week.

As far as the green tea (by the way I love wal-mart, it's just the Lipton's tends to be too bitter) I get my at an Asian grocery store. Green tea tends to be very bitter but there is one brand called Genma-Cha that has brown rice in it that is almost...sweet. Put a little milk in it and it's a nice treat.

Good job on the loss!!!!

Green tea - yup, it's bitter and it takes so getting used to. One of the reasons I don't really like the 'commercial' teas. If you have an Asian grocer in your area, go in and ask for Genma-cha (it's not a brand, it's a type of tea) then if they don't have it in a bag you just seep the leaves for about 3 minutes. It's got an almost sweet nutty flavor. No where near as bitter as the other teas. It's a great 'gateway' tea.

Re: Getting in shape/Losing weight in pre-nursing/NS support thread

Ya'll crack me up! There are weeks when I weigh myself everyday, and sometimes more then once a day if I am feeling smaller.....I know, I know. I always weigh myself naked....so it's all me and nothing but me, which is a little sad at the moment.

Also call me crazy but I also breath out when I weigh myself cause you know the air might make me weigh more and I always pee first too.....OMG I do sound crazy

My official weight though is on Saturday mornings when I go to WW at 8:30 at the gym. I wear the exact same clothes every week. I drink nothing before hand so I take coffe in a travel mug for the meeting.

I am hoping to see some loss but this week has been a little rough. Work has me way in the dumps which has resulted in a little bit of nibbling....and a beer and a glass of red wine.....sometimes you just have to give yourself a little slack.

Good luck to us all and good karma for the weekend!

Re: Getting in shape/Losing weight in pre-nursing/NS support thread

You're not alone Piglet! I'm on the scale every day as well. Also first thing in the morning, after I pee and without any clothes. I've even been known to trim my nails before I get on the scale if it's been a particularly tough week!

This hasn't been an easy week by any stretch. 3 tests (only one more to go) and I've had this nasty head cold. I haven't eaten much because my throat hurt, but I also haven't moved much at all between the studying and the feeling crappy, so I don't think I'll see much of a loss.

The good news is that my brain is convinced that I'm losing this extra tonnage. I find myself thinking about when I wear this summer outfit instead of if. That sounds like progress to me!

Happy Friday everyone!
