Re: Getting in shape/Losing weight in pre-nursing/NS support thread

me too, I don't think anyone is personally trying to exclude you, at least I would hope not. Pretty much everyone here is easy going. I've noticed a decline in postings too but I have to agree. I think it's just summer time and everyone has been super busy getting ready for fall. Personally speaking I kind of fell off the wagon so I've been tight liped. We are all here to support each other.

At first I thought the sudden lack of replies happened because I wasn't a nursing student. But, that was not by choice....
I could not get into the nursing program, so it wasn't like I choose not to be a nurse. (While I had some misgivings about pursuing nursing, I went ahead but was not able to get into the program.) So, not being able to take that program already felt like one loss. Then after I wrote to others here that I couldn't pursue nursing, 98% of Allnurse's replies stopped. That was the second loss.

Since then, I have communicated with Brian and he told me that whether or not I was a nurse should not influence whether I can post or belong to groups here.

My computer is accepting all input from Allnurses. And, I find it hard to believe that no one is capable of sending pms to me.

So therefore, the only other thing that I can conclude is that I have been excluded. Also, I'm sure that my post will be removed which will further confirm my suspicion.

I do not think you were being left out or excluded. If you look at the dates from previous posts you will see that there was a big decrease in activity for the whole thread. I like another poster stated have not been following my diet so have not posted on here in nearly a month or so. I will answer any pm's that are sent to me. I may take a few hours but I will answer.

Hi there:
I am responding to your post. In it, you mentioned a decrease in posters to this wt-loss thread.

So, I wonder: is there still a wt loss group here?

I wrote to this group as a whole because 99% of my pms have not been answered for a long period of time. And, the odd thing was that all pms seemed to have stopped at the same time. And, there have been no responses on the wt loss stats that I had normally received. I was told that it wasn't a problem with my computer.

So, I reached out to "the group here as a whole" yesterday to ask what other's experiences have been on this same matter.

`And also, to learn whether such a wt-loss group still exists, esp. since it sounds like very few people check in and most people "do their own thing."

So, I ask again: does a wt loss group still exist here?
And, is there a moderator who is still accepting wt loss stats?

This specific topic was started by registered memebers, there was not really a moderator that was accepting the stats it was a memeber. And I have not seen them logged on in quite a while. As far as a current wt loss group there are several threads here that are currently active http://allnurses.com/forums/f240/. If you want we could buddy up and send our stats to each other. Once again I am sorry that you feel that you have been left out or excluded.

Here's a link to one of the longest-running threads on the Allnurses board, everyone is welcome, always gets lots of responses on a daily basis. It's not a weight loss thread per se, but encourages good healthy food choices that can result in weight loss: http://allnurses.com/forums/f240/hea...-v-253622.html

Again, a member did start the thread that you mentioned, and I'm sure that if you haven't had any recent PM's, it's nothing personal. Feel free to post and read the many other valuable threads on the forums and of course, if you need any help you can always PM any of the Mods or submit a post to the Admin Help Desk: http://allnurses.com/forums/f128/

Re: Getting in shape/Losing weight in pre-nursing/NS support thread

I apologize for not being better about posting to this group.

Trina, I'd like to welcome you. Unfortunately the group my self included hasn't been very chatty. Maybe we could get started again.

I fell off the wagon and have not done very well this summer. The September 1st goal date is almost here and I have only lost about 10 lbs instead of the 30 that I wanted to.

That's better than nothing I guess. LOL!

I am having my gall bladder out on the 16th. Probably proof of my horrible eating habits.

I'm going to keep trying, although school starting tomorrow will make it difficult. My life (like everyone else I'm sure) is super busy. With work, kids, hubby and school I'm going to commit to just trying to do the best I can, and accept that maybe It will have to take itty-bitty baby steps to change my life for the healthier.

How is everyone else?

Re: Getting in shape/Losing weight in pre-nursing/NS support thread

Wow, I can't believe the summer is gone already. Nursing school starts tomorrow!!! I can't believe it. Wish, good luck with your surgery!!

Let's see, I did about 15lbs so I'll take what I can get. I say we all redo our pledges and try for a new goal by the end of the semester in December. Any takers?
