Anyone try the P90X Exercise Plan?
|
|
I was watching infomercials late the other night and saw one for the p90X fitness plan. You can supposedly bulk up and lose weight in 90 days on this plan. There are a bunch of personal videos on YouTube that people posted while using this plan. It's "relatively" doable at $120, but I was wondering if anyone else has tried it.....
Here's the link to the plan's website: http://www.beachbody.com/product/fit...ellers/p90x.do

Bump. I hope you get a response.
As an exercise program infomercial junkie, I am curious. This program looks like the ultimate one out there. However, it is clearly beyond my personal capabilities.
I am also curious about the same guy's 10-minute workout series. That program is one I have considered.

I've not purchased that particular plan, but only because the whole "Beachbody/Slim in 6" video series is on our cable channel. Time-Warner cable has the "On Demand" series... "Exercise on Demand" features a lot of the videos available, not only from Beachbody, but also from Star Trainers, Leslie Sansone's walking, and any number of cardio dance. The guy from "The Biggest Loser" (Bob?) has a series of videos on the channel as well. I've bought the resistance ropes from P90X, and some hand weights from another company.
Speaking of infomercials... have you seen the core workout advertised by Mitch Gaylord? He's an Olympic champion of gymnastics, and I just saw his infomercial this morning. His workout seems to be all devoted to core strength and abdominal work, and I just can't get rid of the belly pouch! I'm thinking about getting that one.

You'll find many threads on this set over at www.videofitness.com
I had the set and it was too hard for me as a beginning exerciser but those who used it over at VF absolutely swear by it.
Good luck!

Yes. I've seen that one. It's so cheap to purchase that I'm tempted, especially since my core is what needs the work. But it really sounds too good to be true and the cheap price makes me suspect that either there is some trick to it (and it's really not that cheap) or it really isn't very good. Looking at the moves they do on the infomercial, it looks as if those same moves are incorporated into most other programs.
Let me know how it goes if you decide to try it.
I'll have to look into the "On Demand" content from my cable company. I didn't know a lot of that stuff was on there. I have a delux digital cable package from Cox that includes an "On Demand" package. I never looked for exercise videos on it. Thanks for the tip.

Here's a link to Exercise TV on Demand... http://www.exercisetv.tv/index.php
This will give you an idea of what's available and it's part of our digital package.
I probably won't order Mitch Gaylord's product. It was reasonably priced, but I can't help but think there are similar moves on ET... I just need to get up off my butt and do it!
Good luck to us all!

I have done the P90X program. I have high standards and I have to say that I believe it's a great at-home exercise program. It is meant for someone who is already in reasonable shape and it would probably be very challenging for a beginning exerciser. To really make this program really effective, I recommend getting a pull-up bar and some free weights. They show modifications with resistance bands, but I really started making progress once I switched over to the free weights. Good luck!

I just started P90X on monday. I wanted to get in shape because all the college classes and studying etc. have contributed to me gaining weight. I haven't been working my usual construction job either, so even trying to cut calories hasn't helped.
This workout is a monster for me so far, I am so sore I feel like every muscle I have is sore. Make sure you have the time to devote to it because some days are 1 1/2 hours. This is a six day a week program (seven if you want to stretch on your day off).
Plus there is a diet involved that has 3 phases throughout the 90 days. I set up Calorieking software to reflect the ratios of fat:Carbs:Protein to make it easier to comply with. The first phase diet is 20% Fat:30% Carbs: 50% Protein. Second phase adds a little more carbs instead of protein, and third adds even more carbs instead of protein.
The workout changes in the phases to, There are 12 dvds so hopefully I won't get bored. So far so good. I plan on sticking with it and getting results.
Good luck to everyone trying to stay fit!
Have a good day.

Before I became a Nurse I worked in TV production, puting infomercials out to national and broadcast networks. I used to put the Power 90/slim in 6/beachbody ones on air. They work, but you also have to remember to balance diet and exercise like with any thing, which is hard for us nurses given that we may work odd hours, have families, kids, pets, ect....
I think going to the gym or doing the works out on-demand if your cabel service offers it produces the same results.
Also the guy who owns the company for Power 9-/slim in 6/beachbody was a jerk. But don;t let that stop you from trying it. just a word of advice, the prople on the infomercials are paid a certain amt. of money to try the product, and most of the time they were just working out at the gym to produce the results you see on TV..this is part of the reason I became a nurse I hated dealing with Network people, and actually wanted to help people.
Good luck

Thanks, Morettia2. I don't expect miricles from anything I buy in that category. I am just looking for things that will help me get 30-45 minutes of exercise each day at home -- trying a variety of things to add variety and keep me interested.
I'm just not a gym person -- but still need some exercise.
