Anyone have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome?

I just got rx's filled for Yasmin (oral contraceptive, the most anti-androgenic out there that I know of) and Metformin. Just curious if anyone else here has PCOS, and if any of you have been treated with Metformin for it? A friend of mine, and fellow RN, has, and said she had TERRIBLE diarrhea. To the point of being in a pt's room in the ED, and having to bolt out and find the nearest bathroom with the constant fear of pooping her pants. LOL. I laughed at the thought, but cringe at that being myself.

Would just like to know what someone else's experience with this has been BEFORE I start taking it... (And I'm waiting until I have a few days off in a row before I start it as well.)

Everyone reacts to medications differently.

Is this a new diagnosis for you? I would speak with your GYN about treatments (Yes, metformin is the med used to treat it).

You can also find tons of message boards that are devoted to PCOS. I'd google it as well.

Good luck!
