My doctor seems to think I have some sort of Immunology problem. Specifically Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis.
My hair is falling out has been for many months now, good thing it is thick...my joints ache, my shoulder blades go numb, my feet feel like they are going to explode and I get pain in the front of my neck. I am only 29. I have a 1 year old and a 2 year old. Could this be something post pregnancy related or it it too long of a time lapse for this. I don't have the butterfly rash charecteristic of lupus but do have water like blisters occassionally on my knees, elbows, scalp & face. usually just 1 or 2 small ones on the face if at all. My cousin has Myasthenia Gravis pretty severe. So I guess an IM disorder could be in the genetics. I have endometriosis which has been linked to immuno problems...I guess I am just reaching here. Has anyone a clue what might be going on with me, has anyone ever heard or seen any mix like this?? And lastly if I do have lupus what can I expect??? Are there treatments, how bad is it and how do I prevent it from getting any worse??? I of course will talk to my DR about this but I just wanted some first hand knowledge if anyone had any. Poor Girl! You are contending with quite a lot. I would encourage you to seek out a complimentary practioner who is trianed in conventional medicine and believes in the body's own natural healing power. Such a practioner will help you ease your symptoms while striving to understand the diffrent causes. I would be surprized if your sympotoms could be neatly fit into one category, (aka lupus). The digestive system is directly linked to immune system. Generaly speaking this knowladge is much more benificial in preventing than it is healing. Lots of experimenting is involved with natural holistic medicine. I encourage you to read all you can and have an open mind. Your local health food store, (NOT GMC) is likely to have free printed adds where local alternative/complimentary practioners will advertise, (aka Wild Oats, Whole Foods). Your body wants to heal its self. Keep your chin up. Namaste

Have you been ANYWHERE you could have come in contact with a tick??

The testing for Lyme is very iffy. Many people have a false negative. And Dr.'s continue to insist that Lyme is only in CT. But it just isnt true.

Absolutely. I just moved from our previous house where we had 18 acres of woods, to the "burbs". It's only a 10 minute car ride to our new place but alot less woods. I took the kids outside & on the 4-wheeler to see the animals in the woods all the time. But wouldn't I have known if I had gotten bitten by a tick?? My dr, told me to call him Mon @5 to discuss my lab work. So I am guessing it has all returned WNL. I am going to have to mention testing for Lyme. I just don't know what else could be going on with me.

Most people never known they are bitten by a "deer" tick. The babies cannot be seen with a naked eye and the adults are no bigger than a period at the end of this sentence.

Be careful on the testing issue. Lyme is a clinical diagnosis and false negative are very common. 36% of people dont even make antibodies and it matters what lab you use. Dr.'s who treat the disease every day use the lab Igenex in CA. http://www.igenex.com

Lyme is a very controversial disease. It is so controversial that Dr.'s who treat the illness have gone underground and their names are kept confidential by patients.

There is a dispute between European guidelines (Burrascano--you can do a search) and American guidelines (Steere). I would never send anyone to a Dr. who followed Steere guidelines and I would never send a Lyme patient to an ID Dr.

Go to http://www.lymenet.org under Flash Discussions and post to find a Dr. willing to take a look at you. Someone will privatly email you the name of a Dr. It is worth checking out.

I deal with children in wheelchair and people in their 20's who have had strokes. The Lyme bacteria is a spirochete and makes syphallis look like a joke.
