Indian Boarding School Abuse--Video

A precious Indian woman speaks of her childhood abuse at the hands of a Boarding School. You nearly choke up along with her as she speaks of this type of abusive assimilation forced upon her. Many of our First People faced these atrocities as children...no, this is not ancient history...it was in our own life times.

Another video, although not a personal account like the above video, shares the same sentiment in how assimilation was a forced practice "for the good of the Indian". It is of little wonder why many Indian continue to distrust (even to this very day) the white establishment's schools, the Christian religion...or even medicine. We as caregivers need to understand this history.

How terrible.

What is the US Gov't that forced these children to go to this abusive, religeous brain-washing school?

Our Government encouraged it.

Were they forced to go? By whom?

How did this happen?

This little video does a nice job explaining some of this.
