I'm also planning to waive my june 06 license and retake the whole exam this june 2008.. I called prc (specifically BON office) the assistant/secretary told me that I cannot waive my license anymore, BON is issuing a memo to not accept retake applications of june 06 passers.. Asked her, if I appeal my case to BON are they willing to consider? She said, "as of now NO one from the june 06 license holders who failed the special retake, filed an appeal. If you want your case to be heard, I suggest you ask your batchmates who has the same dillema as yours, to also file an appeal.. If many will ask for reconsideration, BON might change their mind and accept the applications.."

Still.. it's up for the BON to decide, but it is better to do something than not doing anything at all..
I just have one question, though. When you made the inquiry have you availed of the special re-take already? It seems from your post that you already did. Please kindly clarify. This is just for clarifications for everyone else who might be reading your post and not meant to embarrass or anything.

Yes, I did... took the special exam last december 07 and failed.I was hoping that I could waive my license for I have good reasons for not taking the test 3 & 5 retake exam earlier (june 07).

The local Boards may have good reason not to if they will stand on their earlier decision and the decision is not entirely up to them either. It will be a grave mistake for them if they think that the decision is entirely up to them.

The reason for the re-takes is for the visa screen certification and nothing else since the Boards and PRC re-iterated that the June 2006 licensure exam and the resulting licensure from it is actually valid per Phil. Law. CGFNS actually has the most say on this than the local boards actually do as they are the ones who will be giving the visa screen certificates and not the local Board. If would be no good if CGFNS do not agree even if the local Boards will allow it.

Please update us on this thread if there will be new developments for these cases. Thanks.

Re: June06 License Waiver

Nurse_June, I'm also a June 2006 passer but luckily I've passed the retake in June 2007. I have asked that question with the officer in charge when I filed for the retake, I told him on what will be the consequences if I would not pass the retake for test 3 and 5, he said if that's the case, then I can surrender my license anytime after the retake, and take the whole exam again.
I wanted to talk to a BON that time, but he said there's no way I can talk to them. I understood from the CGFNS side that once you opted to retake and failed, youre no longer qualified for VSC but you're license is good here in the PHIL and other countries not requiring VSC. However, PRC personnel say otherwise that time. They said I can only retake test 3 and test 5 ONCE but can surrender my license ANYTIME to take the whole exam again.
Now, it seems that you cannot surrender you're license anymore and can never be eligible for VSC?

I would take what that PRC Staff with a grain of Salt. It will be up to the BON and not them. Also, it will also be up to CGFNS and not entirely with the BON as well.

Re: June06 License Waiver

did you know that the board of nursing in sydney australia also ask for the test 3 and 5 results? when I applied last february, they ask for the certificate. so I guess, it's not just the CGFNS who actually ask want us to pass the retake, also other countries. fortunately I passed it last june.

Did you make it clear that you're gonna be retaking the whole exam (with fee) and not just tests 3 and 5? It sounds unfair to those who want to be qualified for the VSC to not be able to take the whole exam again if they failed to apply June or December 2007. As far as I know, you can retake Local Board Exam as many times until you pass. So if they won't accept your application, PRC may be violating the law. I will call PRC later to confirm this.

I think it was clear that when one will be waiving the license that one will have to do the whole exam.

Please update us on this thread on their response.

Also, some may not be considering is the role of CGFNS. Even if one is able to waive the license and re-take the whole exam, if CGFNS does not conform to the set-up then what is the use of waiving the license and re-doing the whole exam in the first place ?? Then people will end up complaining to PRC and the BON that they let them waive their license and re-do the exams for nothing and CGFNS still not accepting and giving the VSC.

If there will be any decisions, CGFNS will be part of it. There will be no use of being able to waive the license and re-do the whole exam if CGFNS will not obliged to it.
