hi! i just want to know where i could have my continuing education program (besides pna) and trainings and seminars here in the philippines. for example: iv therapy, tpn, ecg training, acls and others. i passed the june local boards and i want to study more to enhance what i know but not necessarily to study masterals in nursing. thank you very much your answers will be a lot of help with all the nurses.

If you are wanting to take those courses for work in the US, do not bother. They are not accepted and will have to be retaken in the US if your job requires them.

Would focus on retaking the NLE before anything else, that will be needed to work out of the Philippines.

what they said is true...those cert from Pi wont be accepted here, but the experience will benefit you in the future
try your big local hospital
if you are willing to spend, Philippine Heart Center et al have all those training courses

hi thank you for your replies. is it true that you need clinical experience to be able to pass the nclex exam? i want to study more because i am waiting for local hospitals to call me. like for example phil heart center their hiring will be on march. and i don't know what to do for the remaining time.

nclex exam is theoretically based.. you should base your answer by the book and not by what you experience...

I second that. Most NCLEX review books will say that as well.

That's why it is always better to review for NCLEX fresh from graduation or from NLE. If you work 1st then you might mix up the theoreticals w/ what is being practiced in the hospitals and mind you that every local hospital here have their own policies and practices, esp. for Gov't hospitals where you will have to contend w/ what instruments, equipments they have. Even for medicines.

thank you for your replies a lot of nurses also said that it is better to take the nclex first before working as a staff nurse in a hospital. but my worry is that the waiting period after applying. i only applied for nclex this week. and i don't know what to do in those months that i will wait. i will study of course. but what else can i do (which i could find here in the philippines) to help me for my nclex besides studying?

We have an NCLEX discussion board here to guide you to the ins and outs of NCLEX. You can just do self-study and just save your money you would have spend for review centers and just add it to your airfare and accomodations.
