Re: call center or telephone triage nursing

Yes, there is such a thing. And yes, it can be quite dangerous if the person does not have skills as an RN.

And most of the call centers that are there are not for the US in terms of nursing either. You may see one or two, but otherwise they are being handled directly in the US and not outsourced to there.

Re: call center or telephone triage nursing

I have heard of telephonic nursing, to be legitimate you would need to licensed in every state in the US and be aware of each's state telephonic nursing practice. The call center would pay for each license and train you on telephone nursing practice usually with special software.

Call centers in the US require that the RN hold a license for that state.

You bring up a very valid point as well as to why the call centers in Philippines are not being used the way call centers are in the US.

Re: call center or telephone triage nursing

fyi suzanne, there is one call center looking for nurses with US licences particularly california and new york RN license. i'm thus presuming that they will be made to do telephone triage nursing. that's why my original post was a query to those employed in this call center as to what responsibilities they hold, how much they're paid etc. tnx.

Re: call center or telephone triage nursing

Suggest that you contact the company directly and ask them these questions. It is very hard for call center to meet the requirements for the US if the nurses only have licenses in two states as well.

The ones that I have seen try this did not last too long.

This is the very reason that you do not see anyone posting here about this type of job as most do not have the licenses for CA without having a SSN#.
