attended 2 schools, should i send request for academic records on both schools?

hello again,

i attended two schools for my BSN.

1 and half in one school then transferred 1 and half to another school.

My question is (with regards to CES's request for academic records):

should i request it to the school that i graduated only? or should i also request it to my previous nursing school?

because I am pretty sure that the school where i graduated from has all the transcript records from my previous school, as it has been forwarded to them from the day I transferred.

If the school you graduated from has your transcript from the previous one then you only need that one coming from where you graduated. They will integrate everything into one TOR and you can give that integrated TOR to CGFNS.

the school where you graduated from would most probably integrate your credited units in your TOR when you graduate. in that case, you dont have to send records from both schools, but only from the school where you graduated. i attended 3 schools and i only sent the TOR from where i graduated BSN. good luck.

Sir Lawrence01, applying the same question by the OP, how about for CVS?

If one cannot remember the dates, can you just leave it blank?

The request for transcript(s) will be sent for tertiary/BSN school where you graduated right?(no need for the high school, elementary and other courses completed like for the case of second coursers to be filled out in the request form?)

Here in the Philippines, most schools(if not all)use integrated transcripts right?( hence no need to request from the school where you didn't finish your BSN for the CVS right)?

If there is a personal application in w/c the applicant is requested to write down all educational institutions and dates attended then he must write it down as requested. Leaving it blank for reasons of not remembering the dates would be considered an incomplete application and you cannot fore go this anyway since it will still be requested if applying for visa screen, your visa application (DS-230 forms), and other application forms that requires biographic data.

The CVS does request the nursing school attended for the TOR and the schools always gives the integrated TORs (w/c already included all courses previously taken up) so there's no problem w/ that but the applicant would have to send the personal application as well w/c includes the CVS fee and for the applicant to fill-up his biographic data and other pertinent requests.

However, I would be more concern of if you really want to live and work in NY. I think we are not short in saying that the CVS takes quite a long time compared to other CGFNS services and very few to nil NY Hospitals are petitioning foreign RNs. Nursing homes are the ones petitioning in NY right now and they mostly use the services of agencies for this.

Re: attended 2 schools, should i send request for academic records on both schools?

In the CVS form, request for academic transcripts, there is a line there that asks specific date. Most can only remember month and year but not the complete exact date. Shouldn't such info come from the school directly instead?

CGFNS CVS complicates it because they do the verification directly from the school right(so supposedly no need to remember such "to the dot information")? Problem would occur if you went to school from different places...

Again the other question, what school(s) will be written in the request for academic transcripts?

In the personal application, months and year would be fine.

Only the school w/c you graduated from nursing needs it since they will have the integrated TOR (includes all previous courses) already.

The only thing left is the HS diploma but that is waived as well if you graduated from HS for 10 years and therefore not a problem for most 2nd coursers. The date that will be written on the personal application will suffice esp. if the date says that you graduated from HS for 10 years or more.

Again, you may have a point on the CVS process sort of complicating things but that's what the NY BON requests them to do that's why you'll notice that only NY has this process and this process is also one of the reasons why CVS usually takes longer compared to other CGFNS services plus add in the fact that there are few to zero hospitals (other than nursing homes) petitioning in NY so many foreign nurses are not considering applying for NY licensure anymore unless that is really where they want to work. Majority now prefer applying for NJ licensure because of all the above cases since it is much simpler and there are lots of hospitals in NJ and cost of living is definitely lower.

hi john.....my wife and I applied for the CVS Oct 2005. we only sent the Request for Academic Transcripts to our Nursing school only. being 2nd coursers, our TOR for our 1st course was integrated in our nursing TOR.....But a few months ago, my friend told me that he received a letter from CGFNS stating that he has to send Request for Academic Transcripts to ALL of his schools except high school.....if not, CGFNS stated that they will not process the CVS. so i guess NY state/CGFNS changed their policy regarding 2nd coursers.....

Usually your date of enrollment and graduation should be written on your TOR. If you can not find it, better contact your school registrar.

hope this helps

Hi, just request TOR from the nursing school, if they ask for the other schools, then that's the time you need to request again. I'm second courser too. CGFNS only asked for my TOR from the nursing school but a group of friends were asked for the TOR of their previous courses, that was last 2005. Maybe it depends on the evaluator, I just don't know now if it is mandatory to submit TOR from all courses taken.
