Wi-Fi or Bluetooth

Does anybody know if Hospitals uses one or the other? Is there any standard protocal format, if they even use one. My husband is getting me a HP Ipac HX2415 for Xmas, that has both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Both - wifi to connect to the network, bluetooth to connect to wireless devices such as phones or a wireless keybord.

For networking, hospitals will use WiFi. You don't really find Bluetooth "networking", per se, because of the very limited range of the technology.

As Gauge said, Bluetooth is for accessories. However, I've had my iPAQ for about 6 months now and haven't yet had a need to use Bluetooth.

Re: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth

One WiFi issue I've seen so far is that all of the handhelds with built-in WiFi are runnning the "b" protocol, and the more advanced WiFi networks are in the process of upgrading to the "g" protocol. I'm still trying to find out if the "g" protocol networks are going to be backwards-compatible with "b" protocol devices...

A bonus to having Bluetooth in your handheld is if you get used to mobile internet access on your handheld, you can use a Bluetooth-enabled cell phone as a wireless "modem" if you're not anywhere near a WiFi network.

Re: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth

G protocol *IS* backwards compatible with b most of the time - no worries there.

G router will allow access by b devices, however, it gets iffy the other way around. So issue would arise if you had a g device and were trying to access a b router - even then - it can be done.
