Whoa, Bevis This Kicks A@@! Yeah...hehehe

Recently, during my clinical orientation...
I asked if we could use pdas (I wanted to know before I had purchased one) I was told:
"I've never seen a student use one of "those things" before, just be careful you don't leave it anywhere...I have no problem, just as long as you're not fumbling around with it; taking a lot of time looking something up"

Well, I purchsed one. A palm E2 with the nursing central software. I was thinking about just the Davis drug book and a med encyclopedia. To my surprise I had a $95 paypal credit that I had forgotten about; so, I went with the NC software.

WOW...Prior to this day,I felt like the kid on the encyclopedia brittanica commercials (circa 1990, exploration of space report).
Now, I feel like part medical-rainman and part Julius Ceaser! Too bad it doesn't have a Matrix attachment so I could upload everything in my head. This Rocks! It's fast and very thorough! I wrote in Haldol "BAM" all the general info is there; I can scroll for more specifics; backspace and open the encyclopedia. It's all integrated. Nice!

You are tooo funny. I'm thinking of getting a PDA. I'm probably going to get one thats also a cell and camera, since verizon should be giving me a 100 dollar credit towards a new phone soon.

Be careful as several facilities have "no camera" and/or "no phone" policies even if those features are not used while at their clinical site. Just check their policy.

Ken

When I started our program almost 2 years ago I was the only one with a PDA and one instructor, when she didn't know something, would yell out to me "Hey, TA, look this up."

We'll graduate in May and in our class of 31 there are now 11 with PDAs and a few more with plans to get one soon. hehe

I sure do love my PDA, I have had one about 1 1/2 years now and it is a life saver, esp the drug guides and Tabors.
Graduate in May, I am counting the days... oh am I counting!

OMG PDAs are wonderful! I have the Palm TX and I LOVE IT! Nurses are always asking me to look things up and everyone I met that sees my PDAs wants to get one. You can look things up so fast. I have Davis Drug, Tabers, a Lab/Diagnositic manual, etc on it.

I has helped me out immensily!

Our program requires them, as well as the PEPID student suite. I've had a Palm TX all through my pre-reqs, and I do everything everything I can with it. I'm excited to see how we will use them at school.
