Re: Where to purchase a PDA

I bought my HP iPAQ 2755 refurbished from HP itself. I knew that it would be just like new (I researched this situation) and came with a good warantee. I paid $393 which included shipping. I saved over $100 by getting a refurbished one. I would not buy refurbished from anyone but the company that produces the product. I have never had one problem and you could have fooled me that it isn't brand-spankin new. Love it, love it, love it. It has Bluetooth and WIFi. Haven't figured those out yet, but wanted it incase it was something I needed in the future (no upgrading to a new PDA anytime soon for me!) Good luck!
Try HP itself
hpshopping.com
then click on refurbished items

Re: Where to purchase a PDA

The best place to purchase a PDA is from your wireless service provider, (Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc).

The great thing about PDA's is all the awesome programs you can use to make life fun and convenient and half of the best applications require a data connection so a PDA cell phone is twice as handy as a simple PDA.

The reason why the best place to go is directly with your service provider is that:
1) You get it new. (versus ebay or referbs)
2) Its immediately insured.
3) There is no hassel with warranty claims. (Anything goes wrong in the first year you stop by a store and exchange it for a new one. After a year you pay a 50.00 deductible and they give you a similar PDA. I say similar but its always mint condition and sometimes its even an upgrade from your old one.)
4) You get a 30 day trial to decide if you like the device. If you don't, send it back for a full refund.

I'm still looking around, but I'm pretty sure that's the one I want. I'll try to get my hubby to buy it for me for xmas

Re: Where to purchase a PDA

I have found www.mobileplanet.com to have the largest selection of both commercial and industrial PDA's available. IF you are going to purchase a device that has a cell phone with it, then the best place to go is your cell carrier. I am in the process of writing an article about how the industry has switched from the PDA devices to the connected PDA devices with the data connection built in, and how 2 years ago, you walked into a circuit city, and could choose from over 10 different manufacturers with options, and now there is none.

Hope that helps a little
MD

I purchased mine from www.hp.com

I told them I was a nursing student and they gave me a nice discount.
It should of cost $399.00 and I got it for $359.00. Don't buy the insurance. It is half the price of the iPAQ. It is not worth it. Spend about $30.00 for a leather case for it. It also has a belt clip on it. It will protect the iPAQ well.

Hi Lorisha, I just brought my hx2495b(the newer version plus it is black) from ciruit city at the Janaf shopping center(across the street from military circle mall) The original price was 399.99, they gave me a $40 discount which made the price 359.99 and I brought a protection plan for about 50 bucks just in case I mess it up. Lord knows that if I didn't have a warranty on my lap top I would have been sick from having to fix it. I must admit that I used a circuit city credit card to purchase it. They said that my credit was excellent and that I don't have no interest or payments until 2008 but by then it will be paid off!!

So girl get it now so that you can get use to it. You know that we start school on Aug. 14. I don't know how to work it yet but I know that it will help me organize my choatic life (Jah turned 2 on July 12) b/c I can write stuff down all over the place and still forget it.

Talk to ya later and see ya on July 19 for the FA meeting, remember to bring your W-2's.

Re: Where to purchase a PDA

I just purchased a new Tungsten E2 from palm.inc for $199 with 256MB free. I checked eBay for weeks, and was reluctant of buying it from them. I did find a little better deal for $149 with $20 shipping and no support. I believe I did great because the 256mb cost about $39.99 and I will get it for free. The shipping cost was $6.95. I have warranty for 90 days and if I want I can buy for another 2 years while I am in nursing school. I asked customer service about me going to nursing school to recommend a pda, and tungsten e2 and T5 were highly recommended. I also purchased the leather cover for $6.00 on Ebay.

If you have access to the military stores (AAFES, etc.), check there first. Benefits include no taxes (!!) and no shipping. I'm purchasing a Dell Axim on line with substantial savings from sales tax alone.

Re: Where to purchase a PDA

Word of hard won advice:

WHOEVER you buy the thingie from - make sure you save the packaging.

PalmOne was a ROYAL pain in the you-know-where when my Zire 72 took a spin a few years ago and demanded that I furbish them with either the oringinal UPC or send them the PDA, 'packed as best as possible in the ORIGINAL container' or it was a no go.

Re: Where to purchase a PDA

I know that each school is different but is that something that I should have as a nursing student and will I get a lot of use out of it The school that I will be attending has not asked us to purchase one yet so I am just wondering if this will be worth the money
