Question What Is The Best Pda Software For Recordidng Info On A Patient During A Shift?

Hi,
I have a new Palm Pilot Tx and would like to know what is the best pda software for recording information on a patient during a Med/Surg shift. I would like to know a through one that allows entries for pt demographic info, vitals, progress notes, lab and diagnostic info, assessment, medications, etc. Everything that needs to be recorded during a Med/Surg shift.
Thanks in advance for the help - also don't mind recommendations on software that isn't freeware as i don't mind paying for a good charting system.
Thanks

First of all I'd have to ask why you are recording this information. You have to be carefull with taking that information home.

Unless you use electonic medical records, I've actually found that thte old pen and paper PDA works best for me.

Maybe i'm not using the right terminology here - new to PDA - i am not looking to bring anything home with me - i have seen pda programs like turbo doc and pt tracker whiich allow you to report off at the end of shift with the info you gathered during taking vs, assessments, etc from your pda. It is not for charting in nursing notes or anything like that, more just an alternative to flipping threw patient worksheets all day long.
any suggestions?

So this is something you would delete after your shift? I have a tungsten T3 PDA and it has a basic voice recorder that organizes recordings by time. This is a sensitive topic d/t HIPAA--you should never take anything with pt names on it home, this can even be read as identifiable information (where a person could tell who you are talking about just with your information and without a name).

Sorry I couldn't be more help...

I've used the voice recorder. Also, the Notepad. I like using the notepad for vitals or a quick note to remind me later when doing charting as to the time. Notepad saves what you input as the time you input it.
