Wanting a PDA

Ok, I've been wanting a PDA badly for a long time now to put a drug book & nursing books into to carry with me in clinicals & on the job. But when I go to look at PDAs there are so many to choose from & I get so confused. Can anyone help me out? Any suggestions on what to look for & what to get & what not to get? And also where can I get nursing books for PDAs? Thanks so much!!

It's hard to suggest a model, it all depends on how many bells and whistles you want. I have a tungsten E2 which now goes for sale brand new on ebay for $150 and it works great....2 of my instructors have the same one. You would just need a memory card to be able to load the software.

Skyscape.com is where I got all my software.

Good Luck

Ok i'm thinking about getting one also........but i'm just wondering can you actually download a lot of the software for free?? Or do you always have to pay $30 or $40 for each software program you want.............

I have the Palm T/X, and I don't know what I'd do w/o it.

You ever heard "You get what you pay for"???? Totally true. The are free programs out there, and some are fairly good, but most are crud. Get a device, cough up the $90 for a good nursing constellation package, and be done with it.

You won't regret it.

Oh.... lookup drugs and their interactions, lookup "fast facts" r/t pt. dx., caluculate dosing and drip rates, setup timers for rx and tx, store MD phone numbers, etc..

Basically, a PDA is a bookshelf in your pocket, along with a calculator, notepad, addressbook, and calendar.
