Taking notes in class Pda with keyboard or laptop?

Has anyone used their pda with a folding keyboard to take notes in class? How do you find the size of the pda screen. Can you read it?

Did a search on this in here but couldn't find anything specific to my question.

Or....would a wireless laptop be better. Basically I am wanting to type my notes in class rather than handwrite them. I type soooo much faster than I write.

Since I got credit for 3 courses I don't have to take I have some extra money to spend...but lordy are laptops ever expensive!!.

Advice appreciated.

Never done it, but it sounds as if it is easier to just open a laptop and type away. I have one but it is too old, and slow

Can't afford one, so I have to use the good old pen and paper.

IMHO, a notebook would be much more efficient to type because you have a much bigger screen and a much bigger keyboard. The notebook would not even have to be wireless in order to type. The alternative is using a PDA in a way in which it was not originally designed (it was not meant for speed typing). Notebooks are pricey, but the added efficiency is worth it.

I would think the noise of the keyboard would be a problem if you use a lap top...

I don't know, I used those microtape recorders way back when in the 1990's, and took
handwritten notes, that way I could go back and fill in if I missed anything.

I use my laptop

I'm only a pre-nursing student, but thought I would chime in as a practically professional student.

I have started using my laptop to take notes in class. What I like the best is that I don't have to read my handwriting and it's great to make up a study guide for a test. You just cut and paste from your notes. It really depends on your laptop on whether it makes much noise. Mine is very quiet. The only time I make noise is when I accidently hit the wrong button and turned on my music player in class. Oops.

A couple of years ago I tried the whole PDA thing but found the screen too small. You really have to lean forward to be able to see the screen.

Even if you don't get a laptop, I found it useful to type up my notes after lecture. I did this for A&P and it was extra review. I know its alot to do and the only way to really keep up.

I have before, but the screen is a little small even on my Palm T5 which is one of the largest PDA screen out there. Oh! and the keyboard will suck the life right out of the batteries, so you'll want to have it plugged in while you type.

I bought my emachines laptop at a pawnshop for $300. It's fully loaded and works perfectly. Fast too.

I just ordered a laptop for my use only. I'm not sure I'd take notes in class with it but I will take it on campus with me for research and typing notes afterclass.

We had one gal type all her notes on a laptop during class and it was kind of distracting for me. I just sat as far away from her as possible. I don't want others to think this of me!

I think when the notes are handwritten, they fit into your brain better. Because when you write it, you review it. Don't you think so??? I think typing is mechanical, but a bit convenient. Anyway everybody have their own choices.
