So much going on +pda update

SCHOOL:
I’m so excited - no wait, nervous!
All I need now to get my interview is to photo copy my HS Diploma and mail in one more reference and I'm dying to find someone who can and will do it. My old bosses were more than happy to do it for me but turns out that's against the law (other than just saying that I worked there between this date and this date). So I was bumbed but I got my boyfriend's roommate to write me one (we worked together for almost 3 years). I just need one more. It's the only thing holding me back right now and it's so frustrating. I got the tb shots (even though I don’t have any medical insurance now - ouch) and everything else ready to go.
I'm so excited though. If I get into this course it's just the beginning. The CNA class starts in September, so I don't have much time to get my prerequisites done. I don't even know if they'll except me - but it's a very small class so I have a little hope. I really need to get this done asap so I can choose which sponsor I'd like to work for and check them out.
I'm also still waiting for the college to get back to me, though they said it would take a couple months. I want to know if I'm accepted - even though I still can't decide on Behavioral Health and Social Services, or Nursing.
PDA: (my new Dell xaim x50)
Having the PDA now is interesting. It has frozen up a couple of times I think do to some crappy freeware that I've gotten rid of. I’m still getting used to it and figuring things out. I don’t think I can get online with it without being hooked up to a computer. I’m sure there’s some way to do with with my cell but I’m not willing to pay even more just to go online when I can do it at home.
And I still haven't received my battery, case or screen protectors from the other company and it's really making me but I think it's at the post office so I'll have to go there whenever I find the time and extra gas money
Some of the things I use that came with the divice:
Well, every day I use the callender for work/dr.s apointments/birthdays etc.. A big help and I like it better than the little one on my cell phone that sometimes decides to alert me and sometimes doesn’t.
The tasks I use - much better than having a poket full of scrap paper and napkins covered with notes of things-to-do so I don’t forget
I don’t have a huge amount of space, but I did put some mp3's on there that sound fine - though I’m sure it’d be better with headphones.
Solitaire is always a fun game but I’m addicted to this Jawbreaker game that came with it
ActiveSync (hooks up the computer to the pocketpc makes it very useful to add programs/songs)
I don’t use the contacts becuase my cell phone does that - though I may fill it up some day becuase I can have addresses and email addresses in there too
I haven’t tried to voice recorder yet, but as I’ve seen in other posts, when it comes to lectures at school I’d be better off with a separate recorder so I don’t waste my battery.
I use pocket exell for my budget plans though I would like to find some kind of money program that’s free and works.
AvantGo I just figured out yesterday and it’s alright, nothing special but If I’m bored I check the news. I can also use it to save driving directions from mapquest - though it doesn’t have the pictures and it’s very small so it’d only be useful (safe) if a passenger read it to you
I use notes to doodle sometimes.
I prefer to use the transcriber and theres in options thing in there were you can set the letters to how you normally right so it can be more accurate. Though sometimes I give up and use the keyboard.
I heard complaints about the stylis being so thin, and I thought it would bother me, but it’s fine, I like it.
I also didn’t know you didn’t need to use the stylis, you can use your fingers (if you have a small enough pinky to touch just one button lol) it’s just a touch screen
Some of the things I’ve downloaded: (all for free)
Microsoft Reader http://www.microsoft.com/reader/default.asp for ebooks. There are a ton online free to download try http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/ebooks/ , so far I’ve got War of the Worlds, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and the Marvelous Land of Oz (I don’t know which is the original so I got both) and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. I’d like to get Harry Potter but I’m sure it’ll cost money and I’ve spent enough already. I also got a pocket dictionary and an English-Italian dictionary.
I tried the free Flash Cards program - but you have to pay $5 to actually make a test, so that sucked, but I’ll look for another program like it later.
I got the free Epocrates Essentials http://www2.epocrates.com/index.html . Toyed around with it for a very short time. I probably won’t even need to use it ‘till next year anyway.
I downloaded a few free games that screwed with my today screen sometimes or just wouldn’t close - sorry I forget the names.
But some good freebies I got are All-In Hold ‘Em (cause I love Texas Hold ‘Em and my boyfriend always plays it)
Hot Death UNO - well lets just say it has a few interesting cards, I would rather have regular uno, but until then..
I also got T-day counter. It’s a countdown to a certain day you specify (right now I’m using it for my bf’s birthday) because it’s the free trial you only get one day but I believe the full version you can have up to 5 at a time and you can choose icons.
I can’t figure out hot to get pocketnes onto my pda. The setup doesn’t work on my computer.
I tried to use the pdamill gamebox asia trial but it says I don’t have enough ram to play it so I finally bought the 1 g memory flash card thing

LIFE:
I just moved out of my nasty, ghetto apartment after living on my own for a year and with my boyfriend (and other roommates). Now I’m back at Dad’s becuase I decided to go to college and I can't afford school and rent. I was moving all month so the big day in August would be so horribly hot and tiring. By the time that happened I only had my bed to move and I had so much energy I ended up turning the hall into my computer room and I clean the kitchen like crazy - I emptied every sing cupboard and drawer (my dad has a nice, old, big kitchen) cleaned them, reorganized, put stuff we don’t use and storage and through out stuff that was from way before my mother died (5 years) like spices and beans... Needless to say my father was pleased.
So the day after that I moved my boyfriend out - he still doesn’t have a car, let alone a license, and he’s been out of work for almost a month now. NO ONE is calling him back and it sucks - especially since we both applied to Sebago Brewing (another restaurant) at the same time and they hired me as a line cook (which I’ve never been) instead of him - and he’s been one for a few years. I understand why they didn’t hire him (he walked out of one restaurant - because they were nasty [PS. Don’t eat at the LoneStar Steakhouse] and then he stopped showing up to work at the MacGrill because he hated it there too and they made him do an unreasonable amount of work for so little money - they close their doors at 10pm the last night he worked and he didn’t get out until 1:40am) So I had to lend him $300 so he could afford the security deposit for the new apartment with his friends. And because my boy needs to eat I’ve spent a lot of money on groceries for him (but I’ve always gotten him groceries since we’ve been together so I guess that’s nothing new).
Also my friend who has a nine month old baby just found out the guy she’s with and was hoping was the father isn’t - they had split up for a few months and she went back to her last boyfriend and I”m sure you can figure out what happened. Well her boyfriend doesn’t want her telling the real father it’s his baby and he’s being a total dick about it. She knew she had to anyway and she called me to tell me not to come over that day because she told her boyfriend that she was going to hang out with me for the day but really she was going to tell the father. Well, I haven’t heard from her since and her phone has been disconcerted so I’m worried about her and really want to find her.
And another friend’s incredibly depressed and her boyfriend is moving out and she can’t handle it/nor afford it so she has to move back into her parents but she can’t bring her pets with her.
Oh and my boyfriends family is having a hard time right now in Mass. His cousins’ baby is really sick and they’re running out of money for medical bills, not to mention his wife needed her teeth emergency pulled *shrug* And his other cousin is about to have her baby and his old dog down there is dying and his uncle who is taking care of him who just had his jaw removed because of cancer is also having a hard time.
...Needless to say it seems everyone’s going through a lot of stress right now. There's just so much on my mind, I just needed to get some of it out even if it is all jumbled together, thanks for listening, it’s time to get ready for work.

Thanks for the 411. I am so glad to hear that everything is going well. Also, great thing you can live back home and continue your education. Best of luck to you and keep us posted.

There is nothing wrong with living at home while going to school. If I wasn't married, I'd be in the same situation.
As for a reference, what about any of your old teachers at your high school? It's time for school to start up again all around, so I'm sure you'll find someone there.
As for the PDA...congrats on getting one. I'm still looking. The one I want is over $500. I may have to settle on something else at first, but as long as I get one before January. lol
Good luck to you!!!

i wasn't exactally a good student. i'm lucky i graduated - i just didn't care at the time and the thought of college never crossed my mind.
luckily the youth program i volunteered for a couple years ago, there's one youth leader left that was there when i was and he remembers me. we talked for quite a while on the phone and it was great to hear from him and he was happy to write a refference letter, he's even going to mail me a copy for my own personal records. Now I have everything i need, i just have to wait for the phone call to get an interview!

Well, there you go!
Hopefully things will calm down for you, and life will let you concentrate on your studies. If not, SEPARATE yourself from the problems as much as you can.
You have come a long way, you owe it to yourself to do this! Good luck!!
