Which smartphone?

So, I'm looking for a smartphone. So far I have looked at..

Palm Centro
Palm Treo
Blackberry Pearl
Blackberry Curve

Basically I am wondering if yall could give me your opinions, recommendations, or problems you have with these phones.

I am also open to other smartphone recommendations everyone may have.

I am just trying to get all the information I can before I make the plunge.

Thanks all!

Re: Which smartphone?

My vote is for the BBCurve. The Pearl is a nice phone, but the screen is a lot smaller than the Curve's. I have a drug guide and a nursing guide on my phone, along with games and other fun stuff.

I am a die hard BB user now..they're the best phones I've ever had. I started with the Pearl and recently upgraded to the Curve.

Re: Which smartphone?

I currently have a HCT 8125..great phone. Runs Windows Mobile...easy to use and of course Windows Mobile has a great number of programs for nurses! Just my two cents....

Re: Which smartphone?

I have a Treo 755p (Palm-based OS) and LOVE it. I was going to get a Blackberry, but there were 3 things I did not like:
  1. You have to pay about $35/month just for the BB e-mail service. The Treo does have an e-mail function, you just have to push a button to check it.
  2. The BB does not have a touchscreen. After having an older model Palm previously, I did not want to give up my touchscreen.
  3. Most importantly, there are many more medical/nursing programs that go onto the Palm OS.
Most phone companies allow you to return a phone within 30 days of purchase. If you are really having a difficult time choosing, get the one you think you would get the most use out of and try it out.

Re: Which smartphone?

I recently upgraded to a Palm Smartphone 755p, with Verizon after being a long-standing user of the Palm Tungsten E. I have had no problems with my phone at all, and since nursing school loved the palm software it comes with. I tried the Windows platform version and hated it. Palm is much more user friendly and easier to operate in my opinion.

There is this website www.treonauts.com and they have treo users who review treo smartphones and accessories and such. Great website, offers reviews on most of their material. Hope this helps!

Re: Which smartphone?

As a former user of the Palm products... everything from the start. My most recent Palm PDA Tungsten T5. I think we got that one in 05?
I progressed to the Palm Treo 700wx... the smartphone palm PDA.. with the Windows operating system.
I can't go without it now. It's a great combination of my PDA... along with my med programs.. and now I don't have to carry a phone seperately!!!!!
I highly reccomend it for its usefulness, portability... as well the screen is at least at a tolerable size compared to the blackberry pearl.
I even tried other smartphones over the past year. None come close in comparison to all the features of the Treo.

Re: Which smartphone?

Hi...I am a nursing student and will be starting the program this fall. I was really confused if we would be able to use a smartphone in the hospitals, school, etc? But it sounds like, for all your posts, that it does not matter? Hospitals don't care if they have a phone/camera?? Also, do you guys feel like they work just as well as PDA's?
