PDA software included, savvy or scam?

I have been browsing around everywhere for all of my supplies that I will be purchasing for entry into the world of nursing as a student this fall. I am planning on getting a PDA soon. But as I was checking out ebay, I noticed some sellers promote their PDAs with a "medical version" tag. They say it has a decent amount of medical programs on there. So I started to wonder about this software. Has anyone had any experience with, or know of someone purchasing one of these? My main questions are: Is the software any good and/or up to date? Is this stuff worth paying a little more than the same "regular version" PDA, or is it infact just freeware I can load myself for no additional cost? TIA for any input

Re: PDA software included, savvy or scam?

I will share with you what I plan on doing and have already done regarding a PDA for nursing school in the Fall. I went ahead and ordered the programs I wanted and that were required for "books" at my school at Skyscape. I really do like them because I like the fact that they will send you your cd with all your programs you ordered as a desktop and whichever pda processing you have (palm, windows, ect.). But then they give you access to it right after you purchase so you can save it to your computer. I like having the idea of being able to look information I need up on my laptop too whenever I am at home and would rather work with my computer because of writing papers, ect. on it.

I am waiting for the T/x to be on sale in the next few weeks. I was really upset because I wanted to get it back a week or two before Christmas last year. My mom said they did not want to purchase it for nursing school yet until I was accepted into a program. Well now it is at full retail price at 314.99 and back at Christmas it was 149.99 as well as the E2 I believe that is what it's called by the Palm was 99.99. I am disappointed that has been the only time since then it has been on sale and advertised in the Sunday Ads.

Good luck with school

When I looked into that stuff a while back, it seemed as though most of it was either freeware or the trial versions of software that you would have to eventually buy.

Plus, there was soooo much there, that it would really take up a lot of space on the PDA. It all seemed to be targeted to different specialties, so there would be a bunch of stuff there that the purchaser (whatever their specialty might be) wouldn't use.

I don't think it is a scam, so much, other than not too much of a bonus.

However, it would save a bunch of time in looking on the internet for stuff and downloading it all.

I just bought mine at Amazon.com (new) for $253.00 which isn't as low as $149, but after shopping around, I think it was a good deal. Plus it came with a hard case.
