Smile PDA question

What's the best PDA a nurse should be getting right now and what kind of programs should I have. Can you tell me the exact names? I know I should get a medical dictionary and a drug guide, but what kind and where?

This question has been brought up numerous of times recently, so you might be better off doing a search. Everyone has their own opinion on what is best, and considering there are tons out there.......you might want to read some threads and reviews. Welcome to the site, and good luck to you.

Hi there

I have done extensive research into the pda situation. I finally settled on a Tungsten T5 simply because of the huge amount of space it has. It also came with Wifi capabilities if I ever want to use my pda and connect to the internet. I won't be setting that option up any time soon because I don't require it yet.

Things I learned the hard way re: pda's:

Before you buy, do your RESEARCH. There are tons of sites on the net that will help you with all you need to know.

Secondly, Make sure that your pda is compatible to your computer. Very important so ask questions when you purchase it.

Palm operating system has far more free dowloads than pocket pc.

There are many sites for free downloads on the net. Just do a google search and enter Free dowloads for pda's.

Here is the best link that I have found thus far for pda info. It is loaded with all you would ever need to know and then some. Took me ages to find something like this.

Keep in mind there are also a ton of threads on this subject matter so do a search and you will find them.

Good luck. Hope this helps you.

ditto...

do some research on this site for past posts...

As for me my Palm Tungsten C works great and has lots of power and memory.

As for software, most publishers of drug books also publish for Palm and you should get the same one you are using for school for consistancy purposes...

Ther are many who go to the free downloads like Epocrates etc for other software...

As for me a drug guide, a dictionary, a lab value have been all I have needed.

As I said, do some research everyone has an opinion on anything "technology" and then make your own decision with your budget in mind.

good luck, dave

Lile I said...

Everyone has a technology opinion.

After all of my research...I bought Palm as a result. Again, you need to do your own research and see what makes sense for you. While I love my Palm there are others here who love their PC based units...

As far as hospital standards. I am not sure what that would mean to a nurse. Even if connecting to their WiFi system was necesary that would not matter. If you need to hardwire or cradle to their PC system I guess that could be an issue but I do not have the experience to know if that is necesary or possible.

I just know from a user standpoint I am quite satisfied with the simplicitiy and power of my Palm.

Good luck with your research. After you decide check out Ebay, I bought my Palm there, new in box for $100 less than retail.
