Dont mean to beat a dead horse but after searching here I didnt see any threads exclusive to E2s so I thought I might try one.

So,i f you have any tips, experiences, or advice concerings E2's, accersories, software feel welcome to add them here.

only E2 advice i can give is to not keep it in your back pocket. or if you do, keep it in a hard case.

Yep I have an aluminum hardcase for it. Ive carried it in theback pocket of my jeans this last weekend and even sat on in with no probs.

Anyway, I used it at my first day back to nursing yesterday and it worked great for me. To be honest, all the meds I need to look up are on the hospitals computer but I could actually do it quicker with the PDA.

I can see how this will be very useful in other hospitals where Im not as quick with their computer systems or not familiar etc. And it beats having a backpack full of books or having to leave the pts room. This way I can stayright at the bedside.

At this time Im just using the free Epocrates which isnt too bad at all.

Ive also scanned and transcribed some of the hospitals docs to the pda so Ill have those at my fingertips too ie drip formulary.

Its kind of neat having some picks on it too when I need a quick break or want to show off.

The only comments I have that are E2 specific are I figured out how to load a pic for a background and Im not really fond of the hotsync usb cable. The connector to the pda is a bit chincy but works ok regardless. But it does make me wish it was a simple mini-usb port instead of having the two prongs on it. The screen is smaller than Id like compared tomore expensive models but the colors are good and its nice and bright-

Any tech specific comments are very welcome be they about the E2 or Palms in general.

I have a Tungsten E2 and I love it. Make sure you read directions before installing. If you add too many programs on your internal memory, they will not work and you will have to do a hard reset. To prevent this error, add some programs to your s-card. You can only add programs with PD not Pr. Other wise, it is a great tool to have in clinical.

How did you scan a document into your E2? Did it take up a lot of memory?

To everyone with an E2:

Any specific software you would recommend (drug book, anything helpful to a new nurse)?

By the way, I also recommend the aluminum case. With some searching on the internet, I found it for around $10 plus shipping.

You have to do it from your regular computer and send it to your palm. When you sync, it is be on your doc to go file.
I prefer the leather case, so that I can put my credit cards and money.
I purchased a Medic Cd on eBay, with over 200 rn programs (RnDiseases, Tabers, Stedmans, Washington Manual, ABCLab, RNdxInt and much more).
I downloaded epocrates free online to get all my drugs. So far, I am using a few of the programs in clinical.

The E2 comes with software to download to your PC. One program is "Documents To Go". I take word documents then drag them over to Documents To Go. That enters them into the Plam software. Like the other poster stated, when I sync my palm to my laptop it loads all the docs. No, they dont take much memory.

This has been helpful as I can take certain drip formularies and policies and place them on the E2. While at the bedside I can resouce these docs quickly. It helps me as I do perdium or even at my regular job since Ive been gone for a year.

So far Im using the free epocrates, a free ABG calculator I linked through here, and a free med calculator. I highyl recommend a SDcard. I found a 1gig card at walmart for around 28 bucks.

The E2 has been great to have and I use it everyday-

BTW, I use the palm organizer software and not version that uses outlook express (I hate outlook).
