New to palm tx~ confused

Hello all, I just purchased a palm tx. I am just curious I do have a palm treo also but I have heard so much hype about the palm tx and decided to get one since that is what my nursing class is supposed to have.

Besides the wi-fi, and bigger screen.....I am just curious what is the big deal with the tx? I understand it has the built in wi-fi but am I right that you cannot access that unless you are in a hotspot?

I am not putting down the tx at all but I am rather confused I am not a techy person at all but it seemed as is the tx did so much and when I got it all hooked up besides the wi-fi it just does not seem like it does that much more than my treo, and I get to make phone calls with my treo.

Curios, what do you guys do with your tx? Is there a way to access wi-fi at home? and the tx has an appllication that says dialer>? Can you actually make phone calls? I am confused because this did not come with a manual but just seems as though it has all the features that I have on my treo........minus wi-fi. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I love my TX but never had Treo. My home set up for internet access is wireless so I can also use my TX and if you are out and about and there is wi-fi available you should be able to use it. I am more than happy to put my programs on card and use them where ever I am as I don't always need to use the Internet.

The palm also has a bigger viewing screen and the graffiti option so you can scribble down notes and whatnot and the TX converts it to text.

The wi-fi is the big selling point. Most coffee shops, and even college campuses have "hot spots" where the wi-fi signal is open to the public. This comes in handy when you need to browse the web or google something real quick. You can also check email. Browsing the web for actual entertainment is limited. The palm os does not currently support flash, so half of the internet is inaccessible. There are other options like Opera mini, and a few other web browsers are being developed to bridge the gap between the palm os and the world wide web.

It really all comes down to how you want to utilize your PDA.

The dialer works with bluetooth. So you can basically can dial your cellphone from your TX. I imagine this is more handy for people who have a tremendous amount of contacts in the palm address book and want the option of dialing straight from said list.
