This may be a stupid question but,

can I use a PDA as a cingular phone as well? I start nursing school in 2 weeks and this forum has got me seriously considering getting a PDA but I'm clueless about these kinds of things.

thank you! since my op I've read a little more on here and think that before I spend so much $ I might need to check and see if smartphones are allowed. In my nursing handbook it says that pda's are allowed but cell phones are to be turned off during clinicals...

We just got a Treo 680 for my boyfriend and I believe you can turn off the cell function and just use the Palm functions. You can use them in flight on airplanes this way as well.

I would suggest checking with your instructors first, though, just in case they don't allow smartphones at all...
