Just wondering if this is a good brand for PDA? My husband bought it for me and it cost him close to $400 ($299.00 for the PDA itself then another $79.00 for more memory and $49.00 for 2 year warranty)...Im just wondering if I should return it and get something else cheaper, but I don't know what to get...All I care for is for me to be able to use it for work as reference instead of taking all my books with me. Just wondering.....Thanks.

First think about the programs you want to buy... are you just going to put a drug reference and a medical dictionary on it? If you don't want Wi-Fi or Bluetooth you may want to go with something cheaper. Ebay always has PDAs for sale. Also, be aware that some PDA don't have flash memory and you may lose the programs if your battery runs down completely and then you'll have to reload everything. If you're looking for something cheap... Palm has a Tungsten Z22 that has 32MB of memory and is only $99 and may be more practical if you only want to put 4 or 5 programs on it.

Something else to keep in mind is that the batteries in the Palm Pilots are not replaceable. They will last about 2-3 years if taken care of properly then you have to throw the PDA away and get a new one.

I didn't learn this until after I bought my Tungsten E or else I would have searched for a different brand that is Palm OS compatible or a Pocket PC with replaceable batteries.

I'm not familiar with the iPAQ so I don't know if the batteries in it are replaceable or not. If they are it might be worthwhile to keep it dispite the higher cost.

I read the product specs on this product. This is a nice mid range PDA that should be great for bed side nursing reference databases. My favorite site for PDA software is Lexi-Comp. Here is the link http://www.lexi.com/web/tours.jsp... Just select pocket pc and take a look at what they have. I believe they will also let you try all their software before buying. There are tons of sites out there for software.....

Hope that helps!
