How do you get organized and manage your time wisely using your PDA? I just started my final 11 weeks of nursing school and I'm doing nursing management. Its all soo overwhelming! I have a PDA which I'm sure could help me manage my time on clinical and keep my patient's information seperate without mixing it up. But I'm just clueless!

Can people give examples of how they use their PDA in the hospital to manage their time, help them on clinical/worl, and keep track of all of their patients and meds, etc? It would be greattttly appreciated!!

I use my pda to look up drugs check test an disease I use a sheet of paper (my brain ) to keep track of my pt and their iv, labs, phone calls to mds times that they leave the floor/ come back to me and requests that they have so I don't forget and I maked sure that I get done all that I need to on my shiftwe use computer charting so I dont use mly pda like I did in school. hope that helps

Sounds like my system. I think as I gain experience I will consider using palm only but for now I grid my clinical hours on paper, use a notebook for jotting and PDA as reference.

The PDA might also come in handy with the alarm feature. I use an alarm to remind me to turn heparin drips on or off, as sometimes they have to be held for half an hour or longer.

I also use it to approximate times I need to look for APTTs or Cardiac Enzymes on a patient, so I can call the results to the doc.

I also write it down, but just in case I'm in the middle of something that can wait (patient's family wants information, for instance), the alarm will sound and I can excuse myself much faster.

That's a heck of an idea...for some reason never thought about it. Might just have to try it next week.

I use my Palm only for reference and keeping my life together. Patient info never goes in there, it goes on my "brain" (clipboard).
