Re: Free PDA Medical Software

I have a palm treo 750. I do not have internet access on my PDA, when you sync your pda with your PC (and the PC is connected to the internet) the programs connect to the net that way and update themselves.

I have Skyscape programs and also had epocretes (sp?) and they all did this

Re: Free PDA Medical Software

Unfortunately (for me, anyway), the Epocrates database has been purged of the Canadian drug names. Kind of inconvenient for a Canadian student, eh?

I know that I may have to pay for another drug guide, does anyone know if there is one that has all the Canadian stuff?

My question is do many of the programs that i will need access the internet? Once they are uploaded to my pda do i need to beable to go on the web unless it is to ck email or something like that. Should i just get an pda without the phone? With a normal pda do i need to pay a charge for the internet? how does all this work? your help is greatly appreciated!
You are not required to get internet access with your smart-phone. I had no need for it, especially for the additional $50 it would add to my bill. I use my laptop or desktop for anything I need on the net. I have a Palm P and the few programs I have downloaded do not require internet access. Once loaded they update automatically when I do a hot sync with my laptop. As far as PDA with phone or without, is a personal preference. I got the smart-phone for convenience, so I don't have to carry two different items. With a normal PDA there is not a charge for internet anything loaded or updated would be through hot sync like with the smart-phone. Hope this helps a little.

I bought a Palm Centro (Verizon) because I could go without the data package. NOTE: You will have to have the data package with the Blackberry phones.

Re: Free PDA Medical Software

Thanks to everyone who posted links to free programs. I loaded Mobile MerckMedicus onto my smartphone & absolutely LOVE it. I had already purchased Davis's Drug Guide for my phone and use it all the time. It's so convenient to have the information at my fingertips -- much easier than searching for a book or an open computer.

Registering on the Merck website also gave me free access to pt education sheets -- a bonus for me because I work part-time in the community & can always use handouts.
