Expansion Card Issues

I have a new Palm Tungsten E2 (which I purchased thanks to all the great input on this board) and seem to be having some difficulty loading the trial version of Davis Drug Guide from Skyscape onto a 1GB (another great idea from the posts) expansion card. I have tried dropping and dragging from the palm desktop software into the expansion card, but when I Hot Sync the trial version it won't download. I have also tried installing the trial version on the internal memory of the palm and copying the software to the expansion card as well, but again it won't copy to the expansion card. I have formatted the card, thought that might help, but it didn't. Is this a trail version issue or is it operator error?

Re: Expansion Card Issues

Just shooting in the dark here, but when you reformatted, which file system did you choose? I reformatted my SD card at first to the FAT32 system, then found out that Palms can't support that system, then chose the FAT system.

I know precious little about exactly why this is, but it seemed to work. Hopefully this helps!

Re: Expansion Card Issues

Thanks Kevin. I actually ended up on a live customer service chat yesterday with skyscape. They sent me the link with the instructions on how to download it onto the SD card. Seems like a lot of steps to me. Thought this would be a drop and drag install. Gotta love technology!!!

A number of PDA applications are not "dran & drop" when loading onto the SD (or similar) expansion card; with ePocrates, one must choose that option when installing the program, and it works OK.

One thing I noticesd this week was that some of the text on the screens of ePocrates was coming up garbled. I checked the SD card and found that the problem was something on the SD card. Once I cleaned up the card (backup, format, reload other stuff to card), it worked OK. This did not involve reloading ePocrates, just hot syncing it with the card in place.

Geek stuff is fun!
