Does your school REQUIRE a pda?

Just curious to see how many other MSN programs are requiring NP students to have a PDA. I noticed on my schools website that for Spring 06, that all NP students would be required to have one.

I have one, put as stated above, just curious to see how many other programs are requiring one.

Thanks

Re: Does your school REQUIRE a pda?

Just graduated from my program in July (MSN - nursing education) and we were not required to have a PDA. Most of the students in my online class, I would venture to say, were not that familiar with PDA technology and did not have one. I have one, but do not use it

I did not need a PDA for my MSN program because the concentration was management and leadership. However, I'm now doing an APN program and for sure, I need one there. I use it every single day.

Re: Does your school REQUIRE a pda?

I'm in a regular RN program but my school send bills out on Friday with a PDA fee. All students are required to purchase a PDA through the school and we were not given any notice of this until we got the bill. Some of the students already own a PDA and now they have to buy another. The school won't let them use their own PDA even if they buy all the software that the school is having loaded onto the PDAs they bought.

Wow, I would be irritated all to h-e-double hockey sticks.

Our school is pretty neutral on PDAs. In a couple of the orientation sessions over the past couple of months, they've brought current students to talk to us, and some use PDAs, others don't.

We've also had a list of materials we need to get for two or three months.......some must be purchased through the school, like shirts for community events, but most items can be purchased by the student wherever he/she sees fit.

Same with books. We got a list of fall semester books back in early June, and can get them where we want.
