best cost effective PDA?

Hi all. I have not started nursing school yet, but I really want a PDA. Unfortunately, I cannot afford a 500 dollar model. I was wondering if anyone has one that is really good for nursing school but costs around 300 dollars or less. Also, I am not very gadget savvy, so it needs to be user friendly. Thanks in advance!

Hi, This is not an advertisement. I just purchased one off of Ebay and I am so glad that I did. There is a seller who takes new palms and downloads all the RN textbooks on it and then sells them. Mine was 305.00 and I plan on using it alot next semester. If you go to EBay and type Palm pilot RN they should pop up~~his name is king????? I was very pleased with tthe whole tranaction. Good Luck to you

Re: best cost effective PDA?

Should be a really cheap one floating around my town here about now. Of course it would be minus the cradle, power cord and stylus. I still got those.
Mine was lifted out of my work bag in my driveway the other morning.

We bought ours off of ebay. It was a Toshiba. I just always look for someone who has been selling for a while and has good feedback.

Re: best cost effective PDA?

I have owned a Palm Zire 72 for the past 18months. It has been excellent for classes (I just graduated last summer) as well as at work. It cost me $299 originally, but I think it is now down to $250 (or less on ebay). I paid an extra $30 for an aluminum case for it, as well as $50 for an SD expansion card. It came with a free keyboard, so that was good. It has been worth it several times over. I use it (with the keyboard) to type my notes from class, look up medications in my Davis drug guide (from www.skyscape.com) and listen to music on my break with the built in Mp3 player. I don't know what my next palm will be, since I am so happy with this one. I might need a new one in a year or so, and maybe then they will have one that will do my laundry ;-)

The palmone smartphone. You can get great deals and it is both a pda and phone.

The two I recommend now for nursing student on a budget (since Palm just discontinued the T5) are:

The Palm T/X. It is about $299 and has Wi-Fi, Blue Tooth, 128MB of memory... this seems to be the most bang for the buck (aside from the Lifedrive, but it's 500.00). The T/X is the T5, with added Wi-Fi, but they took out 1/2 of the memory and put in a slower processor (grrrr...) and knocked off $50 from the price.

The Dell Axim X51. It's $254 (right now on their website... it appears to be on sale) has almost 200MB of memory a decent processor 416MHz, has Bluetooth, no Wi-Fi.

I can't recommend HP 'cause they are just way overpriced. I've done mucho research on PDA's and I can always find some other brand that is cheaper that is almost the same.

Palm Treo! I have one, it's awesome, it's a phone/PDA, plus I use it to check my email and can even access the internet. I also use it for an MP3 player. Very handy little gadget!
