Hello my name is Traci, and I live in Texas. I am currently using the college network study guides to help ease into excelsior. I want my RN soooo bad! I have not taken a single test at this time. In fact...I am going to start studying nursing concepts 1 on Monday. I have been an LVN for four years now, mostly as a psych nurse. Anyway...Just wanted to say hi, and congrats to you guys that have already made it and good luck to all that are close or are in the same boat as me. LOL!

I just received College Network's Microbiology that I purchased on eBay. Can anyone tell me: Did you find that the test questions in the back of each section cover enough info to enable you to pass the test?
Thanks.

I totally agree with grad2008, I just got tired of hearing for 10 yrs that I was "JUST A LPN" or can I speak to the RN..so thank GOD on 6/26/06 I just graduated from RN school, I believe I will be a LPN at heart for life..RN is just a title..to get the respect that I know I deserve..so to all of you fellow LPNs on the road to reach your goal as a RN...GO FOR IT!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK!!

Hi everyone,
I have been taking pre-reqs since I was in LPN school. Still have 4 more then will transition to Fast-track program at local community college. With working full time and 5 kids, it has taken it's toll. My wife is an RN and works PRN. We both work Psych. I have had experience in Home Health, LTC, Substance abuse. Wondering if I should try to expedite the process and go through Excelsior. At the pace I'm going at, it could be a couple more years. That is quite some time considering the pay difference.
Anyway, good luck to all. It will be well worth it when we accomplish our goals.

Contact Your Senator To Oppose Safe Rn Staffing Bill 2663.
Mna Is A Large Labor Union For Rns And Does Not Include Lpns. This Bill Excludes Lpns From Practicing In Certain Healthcare Agencies.

Hi there everybody!
Graduated from LPN school August of 1989 and have been a LPN ever since. Have worked in all settings with the exception of Home Health, OR, and clinic-type settings. Currently work in Med/Surg and have wanted to be an ICU/CCU nurse since like forever. Need to be a RN to do this and finally after all of these years, I am back in school, part-time and will finish May 2007. Great to see you all out there!!!!

Hello Everyone,
I am a new LVN grad (May 12, 2006) went straight into LVN to RN bridging program at the same CC. We are in our second week of class and going over fluid and electrolytes and acid base balance. I have the acid base balance down no problems but I just can’t seem get the fluid and electrolyte causes and signs and symptoms down. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am open to all suggestions please help!

I so appreciate encouragement from you people who have been there and succeeded. Since becoming an LPN in 2000, this is my third time to decide to contine to my RN and THIS time, I'm going thru with it. I'm 55 and not letting anything stand in my way. Sometimes, I think my husband doesn't think it's necessary, but, with retirement (hopefully) just around the corner, I think it IS the RIGHT time.
I'm going to keep "tuning in" and let you all keep me on track.
Thanks again

Hello to all,
My name is Jenn and I graduated from LVN school in January and passed my NCLEX a few weeks ago. I need to finish my pre-reqs and then I will start looking for a program to bridge. My friend that has all her pre-reqs was told that she is on the wait list for January 2008. All of California programs are so impactred. I am looking at National University in San Diego to see if I can speed things up a little.
Good Luck to all,
Jenn

Excelsior College is a great program if you have the time. Going through a publisher sounds like it would be more expensive, but after checking out how many books ya need to get through Excelsior, publishers are actually cheaper.
There are so many out there but my LPN association said they only recommended Rue. So that's who I went with and I did all 15 of my courses in less than 20 months.
Regardless of how you get to your degree, you need to get it done! So don't be afraid guys, we deserve it!
