Hi everyone,
I am in CA where the waiting lists to get into the LVN to RN bridge programs are HORRENDOUS in general. I'm looking for a program that is accelerated that will get me the RN (preferably BSN as well) in as short a time as feasible. I am willing to move to another part of the country if I find a suitable program which I will not have to wait months or years just to enter. Any help anyone can provide me would be greatly appreciated!

Assuming you have your pre-reqs done, here are a couple ideas for you:

MiraCosta College in Oceanside (San Diego area) - just introduced an LVN-RN bridge program. So... no waiting list, technically.

National University (San Diego) has LVN-ADN and LVN-BSN programs. Private college and expensive. I don't think the waiting list is too long for their programs. There might be nursing programs at other National University campuses, I'm not sure though.

Cal State San Marcos - relatively new nursing program

Maric College - I believe their LVN-RN program is relatively new in San Diego... and so they wouldn't have as much of a waiting list as other places. Other Maric Colleges in different cities might have this program as well.

i just graduated in Aug. and just took an advanced placement exam to get into Nursing (3rd semester.) i am in the Inland Empire, this is at Riverside Community College. if u get in u have 2 more semesters to get ur RN but no BSN. i don't really know of any Accelerated prog. Around here people like to go to Loma Linda for their BSN but it's a pretty penny!

LVN to RN (BSN) check out UOP (University of Phoenix) in Modesto, CA no wait list. That is the program, I aiming for. Don't worry if you don't have the prerequistes, it's included. Program without prerequistes can be from 2 1/2 yrs. to 3 yrs. and you get your BSN.

I live in LA Metro and have had not any luck either in CA.
I have applied to 5 JCs every semester and either get
denied or put on a 2yr long waiting list! I didnt realize
San Diego had all those opportunities.

Hawaii has Kapiolani CC with no waiting list.
I got into Helene Fuld LPN-RN 1.5 yr private program.
a breeze of an entrance test & you get to live in
the best city. I move Jan 07. Good luck!

If you're an LVN you're in a great position to beat the waiting lists in Cali.

You can already beat the waiting list with the LVN challenge exams. If you can pass both of them, you go straight to 3rd semester, no waiting list. If you only pass one of them, you still beat the waiting list by going straight to 2nd semester.

You do have to take an LVN to RN transition course but, that's still better than the waiting list.

What schools offer this option? Im trying to help my friend find a bridge program in or near San Francisco.

From what I understand, all of the schools are supposed to because the BRN requires it.

Golden West College in Huntington Beach has an LVN to RN bridge. They accept one or two classes of about 24 students each year. It is based on grades and a point system. I had straight A's in anatomy, physio, and micro and got in without a wait at all. Just graduated yesterday, yeah!!
