Question Why the edit?

I was wondering why a quote I posted of another persons post was edited. Yes what the other person said was inappropriate, but my post now makes no sense since others can not see what I'm refering to. The code was TOS.
The only reason I'm asking is another poster advised he didn't see why I advised something, however if the quote was still there it would have made sense, so now I feel silly. Thank you for your answers.
