This site is well moderated. Threads are closed by the moderators for a variety of reasons:

1. They are a violation of the TOS - terms of service; for example, seeking medical advice.

2. Some threads get too heated and are closed because they inflame too many feelings. Sometimes, they are closed temporarily for things to cool down, sometimes permanently.

3. Some threads are 'stickies' (they have a 'stickpin' on the thread title, and appear at the top of the forum they belong to). They aren't 'open' because the purpose isn't to have a discussion but to place key information in a handy location.

4. Some threads contain very frequently discussed information on this site. When they are closed, the mods normally redirect the OP (original poster) to a similar thread.

For whatever reason, the purpose behind closing a thread is to prevent further postings to those threads (although the moderators CAN do so, for example, to add info to a sticky); the purpose is to close that thread down to further general discussion. This isn't to inconvenience you but to make the flow of the site more friendly and clear.

~faith,
Timothy.

Re: closed threads

Can you give me a specific example (link) and I will be glad to address it...thanks. Timothy however, is totally correct - there are various reasons for the closure.

Re: closed threads

Thanks Timothy for responding.

Anytime a member has concern regarding closing of thread, please feel free to contact Mod Team aka Forum Staff (last link under forums) for rationale.

Great answer from Timothy. I have nothing better to add, just that any member needing help or advice is welcome to ask any of us! We are here to help.
