Tips for Home Health Nursing

Hello Fellow Home Health Nurses,

I'm just starting into a brand new program at our VA. We are called, HBPC (Home Based Primary Care). We have not even admitted our 1st patient...we are so brand new. I've done some home health short term (patient to patient visits) care in the past. I've done home health long term care for about 14 years. (spend 4-12 hours one on one with a disabled client ). My current program is actually described as more of a "clinic visit in the home", so we won't really be doing much hands on care... more screening, teaching, blood draws, case management.

Any advice anyone can give me regarding home care in general would be much appreciated. Also, if there are any VA nurses online who could direct me to any kind of forum/email group of HBPC RN's I'd really be eternally grateful!

PS...I am a 3 yr RN returning to school online in August to earn my BSN.

Hope to hear from someone soon!

Susette
