Just who do I think I am?

After close to a year on an extremely busy icu-stepdown floor I decided to follow my dream of home health nursing by just applying for a few jobs just to see what would happen. Well, they just called and I have an interview on Monday.
I have been reading the posts here to try to get a feel of what the job entails. Now I am nervous and don't know what I have gotten myself into.
I plan on getting a HH book today and reviewing some of the basics so I don't sound like an idiot. How do I even begin to sell myself at the interview?
Thanks you guys!

Re: Just who do I think I am?

With your ICU background, I don't think you'll have a bit of trouble selling yourself.

And I do believe you'll enjoy the slower pace of HH.

If you want to stay away from the big paperwork, go with daily visits (most agencies do 6-7 visits per day) as opposed to "case management", where you are responsible for everything from beginning to end. I find this far preferable, but some ppl really like case management.. it's personal preference in the end.

Either way, I think you'll find that most of us in HH really enjoy it. Let us know how you do, and keep us updated ! Wish you the best!

Re: Just who do I think I am?

Don't worry about your interview. You have an excellent background for home health. The people who should worry about their qualifications are those who have just graduated and have never held a nursing job. Some agencies will hire the inexperienced, but they are not doing these people a favor. It is always best to have some kind of experience. As I've said before, you will need to insure that your new agency gives you a thorough orientation to your new duties and your client(s). The better you are oriented, the better prepared you will be to do the job. Good luck on your next interview.
