Job Issues - Which Home Health Care Agency is the best to work for?

Wondering which Home Health Agency is the best one to work for in a sales/marketing capacity. Beating the pavement for referrals/admissions?

Obviously there are many local HHA in each person's location, however speaking on a National level with a HHA that has MANY locations through out the US. Which one's treat their employees the best? Benefits? Management style? Training? Thank you for any information anyone may be able to offer.

Re: Which Home Health Care Agency is the best to work for?

One of the employment websites has a blog or referral section where people post about their experiences with various companies. I stumbled upon it one time and was reading personal entries about manager trainees' experiences with Maxim, one of the more widely known national companies. Most of the responses on this particular bulletin board, unfortunately, were not very favorable concerning this company about the activities that you describe. It certainly explains a little about the revolving door behavior one sees at Maxim offices. I didn't get a chance to look for similar responses, or found none, about the other major nationwide companies, Gentiva and Interim. Personally, I don't see myself ever working in a management position for any of these companies, unless I were to be on the nursing manager side of the house. When a Director of Clinical Services knows to treat her/his nurses with dignity and respect, the company builds a strong reputation and presence in any community.

If you are looking for a company that strives to promote home health services try Texas Home Health. They are heavy into sales and education. The sales team is held to a very high standard and they are accountable for their actions. The team is given all the tools needed to succeed, i.e knowledge, excellent promotional items, communication- the rest is up to you. I was a director with the company for 5 years and have recently left however, if I were in sales (full time) this is where I would want to be. www.txhha.com
Good luck

You may want to check out agencies that are part of the Visiting Nurse Associations. I believe that most, if not all, states have agencies that are part of this national organization. The agencies will be independent of each other, but they are all part of the umbrella organization. Agencies that belong to the VNA are usually very well established and have been providing nursing services well before there was such a thing as "home health care". The local VNA here has been in business for 110 years. I know people that work for the agency and they highly recommend it.
