We want to put together a training booklet for our private duty aides (they are more like companions) re: safely transferring patients, dealing with patients on insulin, etc. Does anyone know of a website which might have easy to read information that can be used for such training? Thanks for your help.

Re: Home Health AideTraining

I need to clarify something. Are your aides doing med reminders or med administration? Any personal care such as foot care, hair etc? Do they transport? Respite?

Just need more information but as a rule I research state laws, rules and regs and write my own stuff around the needs the agency policy and procedure manuals.

Re: Home Health AideTraining

You may want to contact the department of health in your state or whoever regulates CNA training, or contact a school that does CNA certifications. When I did my CNA training I got a hefty manual with all the info the state required me to know. Obviously not all of it will apply in home health, depending on your patients, but they probably have a good write-up about how to perform skills like transfers.
