per visit rate or hourly? Am thinking about Home Health in FL. What are some good agencies in Southwest FL?

Was recently quoted rates for both hourly and per visit by an employer, in case I were to fill in either way. Have always received hourly wages to do shift work. Sorry but can't give any info about agencies in FL. Perhaps someone from that area will answer. Recall seeing recent posts about agencies in FL though. Might try doing a search on this site.

I am salaried. It usually works out in my favor..if anything the charting may make my day a little longer. But, salary works for me!

I have a question. Often, when one applies for a position such as Home Health, they ask what you want for a Salary. I've not worked in more that twelve years. I really don't know where to start.

I have to have some sort of figure for my interview tomorrow

There are web sites that state you can calculate it but most as far as I'm concerned are a ploy.

I would rather be hourly than pay for visit. We are pay for visit and they have this complicated formula they use that never works out in our favor. I also prefer to spend more time with my patients and not drop in like a UPS man in a big fat hurry. I love the patients so that is where my focus is at.

I don't like the time I have to spend in the office. It is a beautiful building but the administration has no clue what we do so they think it is really easy. They are always trying to get ways for you to see more patients in less time. Anyone else have this issue? They are always talking about how broke they are too.

pay per visit here, and do not like it!!!!! tho there are plenty of visits to be had, i don't like the fact that on occasion when census is down, the pay check is not as good,,we are not paid for "office" time, like coming back from vacation and you need to organize new patients etc,,,so much of the work is not paid, and as the other poster said administration has NO clue,,,we are in a fairly rural area so driving 120 miles a day is the norm, add 7, 8, 9 + patients to that and you have a 12 hr day!!!!!!!! it is exhausting,,,,well gotta run -- my weekend to work!!! love ya all

Hi Cookie,

You have to be careful and really watch for burnout. I didn't catch your age, but those kinds of days can wreak a toll on your body. I did the same till I came down with pneumonia and was out of work for a month. I had to drop to part time and it's better, but those days I work only remind me of why I did it. Please be careful.

I'm hourly (24hrs) but also pick up per visit at the per visit rate occasionally on my days off.
