Dangerous areas of town?

I'm interested in doing HH PRN, but the one thing that makes me a little nervous is going into homes in a dangerous area of town. I'm not a jumpy person or scared of every little thing, but I am a woman and I like to know what I'm getting myself into.

I'm sure there is a list of people to call if you have trouble. How often are you sent into a bad area?

I live very close to NY city. When I go into a "fun" neighborhood, I try and go early in the morning, bad guys usually don't get up until the afternoon.
We can request an escort if we want but I've never done it. People usually know you're there to help and are pretty nice. I've been doing this fulltime for 4 years and haven't run into any problems.

It helps a LOT to carry yourslef with confidence, head up, look around and don't be nervous. People are people and most of them are harmless. Having said that, things do happen and don't be careless. Carry your cellphone with you and visible at all times. Be smart, stick to well lit areas, park in crowded places etc...
